On Orbit Modulation Transfer Function Estimation for BILSAT Imagers
Leloğlu, Uğur Murat (null; 2006-07-06)
BiLSAT, launched to its sun-synchronous orbit on 27.09.2003, is a 129 Kg small satellite carrying a panchromatic camera and a 4band multispectral camera with Ground Sampling Distances (GSD) 12.6 m and 28 m, respectively. The multispectral camera is composed of 4 totally independent cameras. All five refractive optic cameras have 2048 by 2048 frame CCDs as sensors. The overall Modulation Transfer Functions (MTF) of the imaging systems are very important for characterization of imagers. In this study, the MTF...
On-chip optical filters with designable characteristics based on an interferometer with embedded silicon photonic structures
Kocaman, Serdar; Panoiu, Nicolae C.; Lu, Ming; Wong, Chee Wei (2012-02-15)
We demonstrate chip-scale flat-top filters at near-IR wavelengths using negative index photonic crystal based MachZehnder interferometers. Supported by full three-dimensional numerical simulations, we experimentally demonstrate a new approach for engineering high-pass, low-pass, bandpass, and band-reject filters, based on designing the photonic band diagram both within the bandgap frequency region and away from it. We further show that our approach can be used to design filters that have tunable multilevel ...
On lossless intra coding in HEVC with 3-tap filters
Alvar, Saeed Ranjbar; Kamışlı, Fatih (2016-09-01)
This paper presents a pixel-by-pixel spatial prediction method for lossless intra coding within High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC). Previous pixel-by-pixel spatial prediction methods use only two neighboring pixels for prediction, based on the angular projection idea borrowed from block-based intra prediction in lossy coding, or are based on ad hoc methods applied in some intra modes. This paper explores a pixel-by-pixel prediction method which uses three neighboring pixels for prediction according to a tw...
On-chip deterministic optical SWAP gate
Bozkurt, Alkim B.; Kocaman, Serdar (2019-01-01)
SWAP gate is an essential element of nearest neighbor qubit networks which carry out quantum information processing tasks. The customary way of applying the SWAP gate consists of consecutive probabilistic operations which requires considerable resources. We propose the theoretical design of a structure constructed from linear optical elements on-chip, which applies the SWAP gate deterministically. Using reconfigurable elements, the structure can apply either the SWAP or instead the identity gate. Utilizing ...
On-demand continuous-variable quantum entanglement source for integrated circuits
Günay, Mehmet; Das, Priyam; Yüce, Emre; Polat, Emre Ozan; Bek, Alpan; Taşgın, Mehmet Emre (2023-01-02)
Integration of devices generating non-classical states (such as entanglement) into photonic circuits is one of the major goals in achieving integrated quantum circuits (IQCs). This is demonstrated successfully in recent decades. Controlling the non-classicality generation in these micron-scale devices is also crucial for the robust operation of the IQCs. Here, we propose a micron-scale quantum entanglement device whose nonlinearity (so the generated non-classicality) can be tuned by several orders of magnit...
