Experimental investigation and numerical analysis of microchannel heatsinks for phased array radar cooling application
Alpsan, Emrah; Sert, Cüneyt; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2008)
Experimental measurements and numerical simulations have been performed on copper and aluminum microchannel heatsinks of 300, 420, 500, and 900 μm channel widths. The heatsinks have been designed specifically for use with T/R (transmit/receive) module cooling applications of military phased array radars. An analytical calculation was also performed to aid in the design methodology. Distilled water was used as the coolant with flow rates ranging from 0.50 lpm (liters per minute) to 1.00 lpm. Local heat fluxe...
On optimal resource allocation in phased array radar systems
Ircı, Ayhan; Saranlı, Afşar; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2006)
In this thesis, the problem of optimal resource allocation in real-time systems is studied. A recently proposed resource allocation approach called Q-RAM (Quality of Service based Resource Allocation Model) is investigated in detail. The goal of the Q-RAM based approaches is to minimize the execution speed in real-time systems while meeting resource constraints and maximizing total utility. Phased array radar system is an example of a system in which multiple tasks contend for multiple resources in order to...
Phased array antenna calibration and experimental validation
Yalım, Alper; Demir, Şimşek; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2013)
In this thesis, nine different methods aiming calibration of Phased Array Antenna (PAA) and Multifunctional Radars which employ PAA are presented. Those calibration methods are described, procedures of the methods are explained in detail, and information about constraints and measurement restrictions of those methods is given. As one step further, comprehensive work is focused on Multi-Element Phase Toggling (MEP) method and Rotating Element Vector (REV) method. Results of simulations are shown, theoretical...
Radar resource allocation optimization in phased array radar systems
Serbest, İzzet; Kuzuoğlu, Mustafa; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2019)
The demand for enhanced radar technologies has grown while mission requests have become more complex. Development of Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) Technologies has created enormous functional achievements. Development of radar platforms has led to the radar resource allocation issues and adaptive Radar Resource Management (RRM) studies for Multi-Function Radars. Combining the functionality of different tasks in one special device also makes resource allocation process more challenging due to it...
Calculation of the thermodynamic and spectroscopic quantities in molecular crystals close to the phase transitons
Kavruk, Dilan; Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit; Department of Physics (2011)
We study in this thesis work the spectroscopic and thermodynamic quantities of some substances such as ammonium halides (NH4Cl, NH4I), ferroelectric crystals of tris-sarcosine calcium chloride (TSCC), tris-sarcosine calcium bromide (TSCB), organic compounds of carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) and s-triazine (C3N3H3) close to the phase transitions. Various physical and chemical properties of those materials have been measured near the critical points and have been reported in the literature. In this study, the sp...
