Nanoscale chemical mapping using three-dimensional adiabatic compression of surface plasmon polaritons
DE ANGELIS, Francesco; DAS, Gobind; CANDELORO, Patrizio; PATRINI, Maddalena; GALLI, Matteo; Bek, Alpan; LAZZARINO, Marco; MAKSYMOV, Ivan; LIBERALE, Carlo; ANDREANI, Lucio Claudio; DI FABRIZIO, Enzo (2010-01-01)
The fields of plasmonics, Raman spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy have recently undergone considerable development, but independently of one another. By combining these techniques, a range of complementary information could be simultaneously obtained at a single molecule level. Here, we report the design, fabrication and application of a photonic-plasmonic device that is fully compatible with atomic force microscopy and Raman spectroscopy. Our approach relies on the generation and localization of sur...
Nanoceria supported rhodium(0) nanoparticles as catalyst for hydrogen generation from methanolysis of ammonia borane
Ozhava, Derya; Özkar, Saim (Elsevier BV, 2018-12-05)
This work reports the preparation and catalytic use of nanoceria supported rhodium(0) nanoparticles, Rh(0)/nanoCeO(2), as catalyst for hydrogen generation from the methanolysis of ammonia borane. Rh(0)/nanoCeO(2) was in situ formed from the reduction of rhodium(II) octanoate on the surface of nanoceria during the catalytic methanolysis of ammonia borane at room temperature. The results of analysis using PXRD, TEM, STEM-EDS, XPS, SEM, SEM-EDX, N-2 adsorption-desorption and ICP-OES reveal that rhodium(0) nano...
Nanomechanics using an ultra-small amplitude AFM
Hoffmann, Peter M.; Jeffery, Steve; Oral, Ahmet; Grimble, Ralph A.; Özer, Hakan Özgür; Pethica, John B. (2001-01-01)
A new type of AFM is presented which allows for direct measurements of nanomechanical properties in ultra-high vacuum and liquid environments. The AFM is also capable to atomic-scale imaging of force gradients. This is achieved by vibrating a stiff lever at very small amplitudes of less than 1 Å (peak-to-peak) at a sub-resonance amplitude. This linearizes the measurement and makes the interpretation of the data straight-forward. At the atomic scale, interaction force gradients are measured which are consist...

Nanocrystal Encoded FluorescentMicrobeads for Proteomics AntibodyProfiling and Diagnostics ofAutoimmune Diseases
Sukhanova, Alyona; Susha , Andrei; Bek, Alpan; Mayilo, Sergiy; Rogach , Andrey; Feldmann, Jochen; Oleinikov, Vladimir; Reveil, Brigitte; Donvito, Beatrice; Cohen, Jacques; Nabiev, İgor (2007-01-01)
The first application of nanocrystal (NC)-encoded microbeads to clinical proteomics is demonstrated by multiplexed detection of circulating autoantibodies, markers of systemic sclerosis. Two-color complexes, consisting of NC-encoded, antigen-covered beads, anti-antigen antibody or clinical serum samples, and dye-tagged detecting antibodies, were observed using flow cytometry assays and on the surface of single beads. The results of flow cytometry assays correlated with the ELISA technique and provided clear...
