Rare B-s ->gamma nu(nu)over-bar decay with polarized photon and new physics effects
Sirvanli, B; Turan, Gürsevil (World Scientific Pub Co Pte Lt, 2003-01-10)
Using the most general, model-independent effective Hamiltonian, the rare B-s --> gammanu(ν) over bar decay with polarized photon is studied. The sensitivity of the branching ratio and photon polarization to the new Wilson coefficients are investigated. It is shown that these physical observables are sensitive to the vector and tensor type interactions, which would be useful in search of new physics.
Rare B -> K*nu(nu)over-bar decay beyond standard model
Alıyev, Tahmasıb; Özpineci, Altuğ; Savcı, Mustafa (2001-05-03)
Using the most general, model-independent form of effective Hamiltonian, the exclusive, rare B --> K*v (v) over bar decay is analyzed. The sensitivity of the branching ratio and missing mass-squared spectrum of the B --> K*v (v) over bar decay, when K* is polarized longitudinally or transversally, on the new Wilson coefficients is discussed. Rare radiative B-s -> tau(+) tau(-) gamma decay in the two Higgs doublet model
Iltan, EO; Turan, Gürsevil (2000-02-01)
The radiative B-s-->tau(+)tau(-)gamma decay is investigated in the framework of the two Higgs doublet model. The dependence of the differential branching ratio on the photon energy and the branching ratio on the two Higgs doublet model parameters m(H+) and tan beta are studied. It is shown that there is an enhancement in the predictions of the two Higgs doublet model compared to the standard model case. We also observe that contributions of neutral Higgs bosons to the decay are sizable when tan beta is large.
Extreme Oxatriquinanes: Structural Characterization of alpha-Oxyoxonium Species with Extraordinarily Long Carbon-Oxygen Bonds
Günbaş, Emrullah Görkem; Fettinger, James C.; Olmstead, Marilyn M.; MASCAL, Mark (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2013-06-05)
The first stable alpha-oxyoxonium species have been synthesized and characterized. Strong donation of nonbonding electrons on oxygen into the adjacent sigma*(C-O+) orbital was predicted by modeling to result in unheard of carbon-oxygen bond lengths. The kinetic stability of the triquinane ring system provides a platform upon which to study these otherwise elusive species, which are evocative of intermediates on the acetalization reaction pathway. Crystallographic analysis of the alpha-hydroxy and alpha-meth...
Rare cell enrichment from blood by using dielectrophoresis
Özkayar, Gürhan; Külah, Haluk; Department of Biomedical Engineering (2015)
Dielectrophoresis (DEP) is a technique used for separating particles with different sizes and/or dielectric properties. Fabrication of microelectrodes, thanks to MEMS technology, allows DEP to be applied in biomedical applications such as manipulation, separation, and enrichment of targeted cells from untargeted ones without any labeling. Especially, rare cell detection from blood occupies an important place in diagnostics of fatal diseases such as cancer. Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) that are shed into c...
