Determination of surface temperature rise with thermo-elastic analysis of spur gears
Taburdagitan, Murat; Akkök, Metin (2006-09-20)
The tooth surface temperature rise during meshing spur gear pair due to frictional heat is investigated. A coupled thermo-elastic analysis is carried out by considering the elastic deformation of teeth and corresponding load shearing between the contacting tooth pairs and heat generation in the contact. In the analysis, gear pairs with contact ratio between one and two are considered and pinion and gear are modeled only with three teeth. The finite element analysis is performed using quadrilateral 4-node pl...
Determination of soot temperature, volume fraction and refractive index from flame emission spectrometry
Ayranci, Iail; Vaillon, Rodolphe; Selçuk, Nevin; Andre, Frederic; Escudie, Dany (2007-03-01)
An inversion scheme based on tomographic reconstruction of flame emission spectra has been developed for nonintrusive characterization of soot temperature and volume fraction fields within an optically thin axisymmetric flame by extracting characteristic information on soot refractive index from spectral gradients of emission spectra. Its performance is assessed by providing input data obtained from intensities simulated by a direct code based on experimental data for a flame available in the literature. Pr...
Determination of the Strange-Quark Density of the Proton from ATLAS Measurements of the W -> lv and Z -> ll Cross Sections
Aad, G.; et. al. (2012-07-05)
AQCD analysis is reported of ATLAS data on inclusive W-+/- and Z boson production in pp collisions at the LHC, jointly with ep deep-inelastic scattering data from HERA. The ATLAS data exhibit sensitivity to the light quark sea composition and magnitude at Bjorken x similar to 0:01. Specifically, the data support the hypothesis of a symmetric composition of the light quark sea at low x. The ratio of the strange-to-down sea quark distributions is determined to be 1:00(-0:28)(+0.25) at absolute four-momentum t...
Determination of hydrate formation conditions of drilling fluids
Kupeyeva, Aliya; Parlaktuna, Mahmut; Department of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering (2007)
The objective of this study is to determine hydrate formation conditions of a multicomponent polymer based drilling fluid. During the study, experimental work is carried out by using a system that contains a high-pressure hydrate formation cell and pressure-temperature data is recorded in each experiment. Different concentrations of four components of drilling fluid, namely potassium chloride (KCl), partially hydrolyzed polyacrylicamide (PHPA), xanthan gum (XCD) and polyalkylene glycol (poly.glycol) were us...
