Harmonicity of maps between (indefinite) metric-f-manifolds and rho-pseudo harmonic morphisms
Erdem, S (2003-10-01)
Conditions are investigated for maps to be harmonic between M(P)-f-manifolds with (semi-)Riemannian metrics. Also a geometrical condition, phi(r)-pseudo horizontally weak conformality [which is weaker than horizontally weak conformality when they are comparable], is imposed on maps of a (semi-) Riemannian manifold into a metric M(P)-f-manifold with (semi-) Riemannian metric and harmonicity of such maps are discussed. Some results obtained by Loubeau and Lichnerowicz in the almost Hermitian case are given he...
Invariant Metrics and Squeezing Functions on Bounded Domains
Ökten, Ahmed Yekta; Yazıcı, Özcan; Department of Mathematics (2021-8)
In this thesis we will study the biholomorphically invariant objects called squeezing functions. They are closely releated to invariant metrics on bounded domains and describe how much a domain looks like the unit ball looking on a fixed point. In the main part of this thesis, we will give our results on squeezing functions on planar domains. In particular, our main result provides an alternative proof for the explicit formulas of squeezing functions on annuli. Also, we survey results on boundary behaviour ...
Parameter estimation in generalized partial linear models with conic quadratic programming
Çelik, Gül; Weber, Gerhard Wilhelm; Department of Scientific Computing (2010)
In statistics, regression analysis is a technique, used to understand and model the relationship between a dependent variable and one or more independent variables. Multiple Adaptive Regression Spline (MARS) is a form of regression analysis. It is a non-parametric regression technique and can be seen as an extension of linear models that automatically models non-linearities and interactions. MARS is very important in both classification and regression, with an increasing number of applications in many areas...
Fragility analysis of flat-slab structures
Erberik, Murat Altuğ (2004-06-01)
Flat-slab RC buildings exhibit several advantages over conventional moment-resisting frames. However, the structural effectiveness of flat-slab construction is hindered by its alleged inferior performance under earthquake loading. Although flat-slab systems are widely used in earthquake prone regions of the world, fragility curves for this type of construction are not available in the literature. This study focuses on the derivation of such fragility curves using medium-rise flat-slab buildings with masonry...
Multisymplectic box schemes for the complex modified Korteweg-de Vries equation
AYDIN, AYHAN; Karasözen, Bülent (2010-08-01)
In this paper, two multisymplectic integrators, an eight-point Preissman box scheme and a narrow box scheme, are considered for numerical integration of the complex modified Korteweg-de Vries equation. Energy and momentum preservation of both schemes and their dispersive properties are investigated. The performance of both methods is demonstrated through numerical tests on several solitary wave solutions. (C) 2010 American Institute of Physics. [doi:10.1063/1.3456068]
