Locally finite groups and their subgroups with small centralizers

Let p be a prime and G a locally finite group containing an elementary abelian p-subgroup A of rank at least 3 such that C-G(A) is Chernikov and C-G(a) involves no infinite simple groups for any a is an element of A(#). We show that G is almost locally soluble (Theorem 1.1). The key step in the proof is the following characterization of PSLp(k): An infinite simple locally finite group G admits an elementary abelian p-group of automorphisms A such that C-G(A) is Chernikov and C-G(A) Keywords: involves no inf...
Locally finite minimal non-FC-groups
Kuzucuoglu, Mahmut; Phillips, Richard E. (Cambridge University Press (CUP), 1989-5)
We recall that a group G is an FC-group if for every x∈G the set of conjugates {xg|g∈G} is a finite set. Our interest here is with those groups G which are not FC groups while every proper subgroup of G is an FC-group: such groups are called minimal non-FC-groups. Locally finite minimal non-FC-groups with (G ≠ G′ are studied in [1] and the structure of these groups is reasonably well understood. In [2] Belyaev has shown that a perfect, locally finite, minimal non-FC-group is either a simple group or a p-gro...
Strongly regular graphs arising from non-weakly regular bent functions
Özbudak, Ferruh (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2019-11-01)
In this paper, we study two special subsets of a finite field of odd characteristics associated with non-weakly regular bent functions. We show that those subsets associated to non-weakly regular even bent functions in the GMMF class (see cesmelioglu et al. Finite Fields Appl. 24, 105-117 2013) are never partial difference sets (PDSs), and are PDSs if and only if they are trivial subsets. Moreover, we analyze the two known sporadic examples of non-weakly regular ternary bent functions given in Helleseth and...
Finite action Yang-Mills solutions on the group manifold
Dereli, T; Schray, J; Tucker, RW (IOP Publishing, 1996-08-21)
We demonstrate that the left (and right) invariant Maurer-Cartan forms for any semi-simple Lie group enable solutions of the Yang-Mills equations to be constructed on the group manifold equipped with the natural Cartan-Killing metric. For the unitary unimodular groups the Yang-Mills action integral is finite for such solutions. This is explicitly exhibited for the case of SU(3).
