Testing the quantity theory of money in Greece
Ozmen, E (Informa UK Limited, 2003-12-15)
This paper investigates whether the Greek data actually support the monetarist hypotheses as argued by Karfakis. The results based on both ARDL and Johansen procedures consistently suggest that money and nominal income (prices) are endogenous for the parameters of the long-run evolution of velocity (real money balances). Thus, the basic postulation of monetarism, the exogeneity of money, appears not to be supported by the Greek data.
Testing the outflow theory of Malcherek by slit weir data
FERRO, Vito; Aydın, İsmail (2018-03-01)
In this paper the flow-process of a slit weir is analyzed by the outflow theory of Malcherek. Average flow velocity over the slit weir is expressed in terms of head over weir and the momentum correction coefficient. The theoretically deduced stage-discharge formula was then calibrated using experimental data obtained for a ratio between the weir and the channel width ranging from 0.05 to 0.25. The deduced stage-discharge relationship allows to measure discharge values characterized by errors which are, for ...
Testing for rational bubbles in the Turkish stock market
Başoğlu, Fatma; Sezer, Ali Devin; Department of Financial Mathematics (2012)
In this thesis we empirically examine whether the Turkish stock market is driven by rational bubbles over the period between March 1990 and February 2012. The bubble periods are estimated using a recently developed right-tailed unit root test, the generalized sup augmented Dickey-Fuller test of Phillips, Shi and Yu (2011a). Applying their bubble detection and location strategies to weekly price dividend ratio series, we find strong evidence for the existence of rational bubbles in the Turkish stock market b...
Testing Amenability of Oil Shales to Gravitational Cleaning
Altun, Naci Emre (2016-10-23)
This study aims at investigating the possibility of cleaning of oil shales by gravitational methods. Laboratory scale Dense Medium Separation (DMS) tests were applied on Himmetoglu oil shale from Bolu, Türkiye. DMS tests were conducted at a separation specific gravity range of 1.10 to 1.80 with 0.1 increments on size fractionated oil shale samples of -30+18, -18+10, -10+0.5 and -0.5 mm. Results showed that the extent of ash rejection and improvements in calorific values increased with increasing fineness an...
