8-MW wind turbine tower computational shell buckling benchmark. Part 1: An international ‘round-robin’ exercise
Sadowski, Adam J.; et. al. (2023-06-01)
An assessment of the elastic-plastic buckling limit state for multi-strake wind turbine support towers poses a particular challenge for the modern finite element analyst, who must competently navigate numerous modelling choices related to the tug-of-war between meshing and computational cost, the use of solvers that are robust to highly nonlinear behaviour, the potential for multiple near-simultaneously critical failure locations, the complex issue of imperfection sensitivity and finally the interpretation ...
3-dimensional measurements of morphological properties of particles
Hicyilmaz, C; Bilgen, S (1996-09-26)
Morphological properties of particles are important in mineral processing. Flotation recoveries are affected by surface roughness and acuteness of particles. A novel technique was developed to measure the morphological properties of particles 3- dimensionally. Pyrite sample ground in autogeneous and ball mill to differentiate the surface properties was used in this study.
3-D humanoid gait simulation using an optimal predictive control
Özyurt, Gökhan; Özgören, Mustafa Kemal; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2005)
In this thesis, the walking of a humanoid system is simulated applying an optimal predictive control algorithm. The simulation is built using Matlab and Simulink softwares. Four separate physical models are developed to represent the single support and the double support phases of a full gait cycle. The models are three dimensional and their properties are analogous to the human̕s. In this connection, the foot models in the double support phases include an additional joint which connects the toe to the foot...
2-D PAIRED DIRECTION-OF-ARRIVAL ANGLE ESTIMATION WITH TWO PARALLEL UNIFORM LINEAR ARRAYS
Filik, Tansu; Tuncer, Temel Engin (2011-06-01)
Pairing problem for the azimuth and elevation angles of multiple sources is an important problem in two dimensional (2-D) direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation. In this paper, a new technique is proposed for fast and automatically paired 2-D DOA estimation. This technique uses the magnitude and phase of the eigenvalues of the rotational transformation matrix of the ESPRIT algorithm. A special array geometry is chosen in order to take advantage of the ESPRIT method. The proposed technique is used in two diff...
