SOLAR EVOLUTION WITH ANISOTROPIC MIXING LENGTH THEORY
KIZILOGLU, N; CIVELEK, R (1992-07-01)
The evolutionary sequences of solar models have been constructed in which mixing length parameter-alpha varies in the outer convective region during the evolution. The calculations were performed by using the anisotropic mixing length theory of Canuto (1990). In the case of weak turbulence the correct luminosity and radius values for the present Sun were obtained for a alpha(x) value equal to 0.6. The total neutrino flux was found as 3.65 SNU. While the depletion of Li-6 was complete, Li-7 was not depleted ...
Solar Power Prediction with an Hour-based Ensemble Machine Learning Method
Ertekin Bolelli, Şeyda (2020-03-01)
In recent years, the share of solar power in total energy production has gained a rapid increase. Therefore, prediction of solar power production has become increasingly important for energy regulations. In this study we proposed an ensemble method which gives competitive prediction performance for solar power production. This method firstly decomposes the nonlinear power production data into components with a multi-scale decomposition technique such as Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD). These components a...
Solar models: influence of equation of state and opacity
Yildiz, M; Kiziloglu, N (1997-10-01)
Solar models through evolutionary phases of gravitational contraction, pre-main sequence and MS phases, up to current age 4.5 x 10(9) yr. and 4.57 x 10(9) yr., were studied adopting different prescriptions for the equation of state (EOS) and different opacity tables.
Solar irradiation on the rear surface of bifacial solar modules: a modeling approach
Durusoy, Beyza; ÖZDEN, TALAT; Akınoğlu, Bülent Gültekin (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2020-08-01)
The transition in the energy sector has started with the growing population leading to the growing energy demands. The use of photovoltaic (PV) technologies has become a crucial way to meet energy demand. There are many ongoing studies for increasing the efficiency of commercial PV modules. One way to increase the energy yield of the PV modules is to use bifacial solar panels by capturing the rear side illumination as well. One of the challenges for estimating the bifacial module performances is to calculat...
Solar Sail Application with a Proposed Low Earth Orbit Mission Concept
Polat, Halis Can; Tekinalp, Ozan (2019-01-01)
Solar Sail applications utilizing the advantages of propellant-free and theoretically infinite specific impulse are widely investigated, especially for interplanetary/interstellar and near-Earth asteroid missions and non-Keplerian orbit designs. However, applications regarding to the Low Earth Orbit (LEO), specifically below 700 km, are rarely studied as aerodynamic drag is dominant. This study is aimed to harvest the LEO mission advantages by proposing an elliptical orbit design and control via continuous ...
