On the collisional damping of giant dipole resonance
Yılmaz, Osman; Yildirim, S; Ayik, S (Elsevier BV, 2000-01-20)
Collisional damping widths of giant dipole excitations are calculated in Thomas-Fermi approximation by employing the microscopic in-medium cross-sections of Li and Machleidt and the phenomenological Gogny force. The results obtained in both calculations compare well, but account for about 25-35% of the observed widths in Sn-120 and (208)pb at finite temperatures. (C) 2000 Published by Elsevier Science B.V. On the Outflow Boundary Conditions for Subsonic Rarefied External Flows
Çelenligil, Mehmet Cevdet (2012-07-13)
The effects of outflow boundary conditions are investigated on subsonic external flows in the transitional regime. Calculations have been performed for two-dimensional flows over a finite flat plate using the direct simulation Monte Carlo method, concentrating on Knudsen numbers of 0.02 and higher. At the outflow boundaries, the incoming molecules are determined by using a model which adjusts the outflow boundary conditions according to the local rarefaction assuming equilibrium. The results show sensitivit...

On The Optimality of Maisel Sidelobe Blanking Structure
COŞKUN, Osman; Candan, Çağatay (2014-05-23)
We present an optimal sidelobe blanker (SLB) detector for Swerling-1 and Swerling-0 targets and compare the performances of the suggested detector with the classical Maisel SLB structure. The optimal SLB detector depends on the signal to noise ratio (SNR) and jammer to noise ratio (JNR) values and may not be practical for implementation in many applications. The goal of this work is to compare the Maisel structure with the optimal detector which utilizes additional information on target and jammer and asses...
On the stability at all times of linearly extrapolated BDF2 timestepping for multiphysics incompressible flow problems
AKBAŞ, MERAL; Kaya, Serap; Kaya Merdan, Songül (2017-07-01)
We prove long-time stability of linearly extrapolated BDF2 (BDF2LE) timestepping methods, together with finite element spatial discretizations, for incompressible Navier-Stokes equations (NSE) and related multiphysics problems. For the NSE, Boussinesq, and magnetohydrodynamics schemes, we prove unconditional long time L-2 stability, provided external forces (and sources) are uniformly bounded in time. We also provide numerical experiments to compare stability of BDF2LE to linearly extrapolated Crank-Nicolso...
