We present tuning of quasi-type-II CdSe/CdS core/shell nanorods between type-I-like and type-II-like behavior in their amplified spontaneous emission pumped by 2-photon excitation, with the type attributions verified by time-resolved emission kinetics.

On-Line Application of SHEM by Particle Swarm Optimization to Grid-Connected, Three-Phase, Two-Level VSCs with Variable DC Link Voltage
Guvengir, Umut; ÇADIRCI, IŞIK; Ermiş, Muammer (2018-08-01)
This paper is devoted to an otablen-line application of the selective harmonic elimination method (SHEM) to three-phase, two-level, grid-connected voltage source converters (VSCs) by particle swarm optimization (PSO). In such systems, active power can be controlled by the phase shift angle, and reactive power by the modulation index, against variations in the direct current (DC) link voltage. Some selected, low-odd-order harmonic components in the line-to-neutral output voltage waveforms are eliminated by c...
Experimental Characterization of Micro Vortex Generators in Low Speed Flows
Akpolat, Tuğrul; Abdulrahim, Anas; Hassanein, Abdelrahman; Uzol, Oğuz; Perçin, Mustafa (2021-09-08)
In this study, we present the experimental results of the characterization of micro-ramp type Micro Vortex Generators (MVGs) in low-speed flows. The undisturbed boundary layer profile was measured by means of Hot-Wire Anemometry. Two MVGs with the same design but different height-to-boundary layer thickness ratios are used in this study. Two-dimensional twocomponent particle image velocimetry measurements are conducted in the wake of the MVGs. The results reveal the lift-off of the wake away from the wall f...
Acidity characterization and adsorption characteristics of cobalt and lead doped SBA15 mesoporous materials
Güner, Özge; Üner, Deniz; Department of Chemical Engineering (2007)
In this study, the surface acidity of Co and/or Pb doped SBA15 mesoporous catalysts were investigated by both diffuse reflectance fourier transform (DRIFT) infrared spectroscopy and transmission mode fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Pyridine was used to identify the Brønsted and Lewis acid sites of the surface, at room temperature. From the DRIFT spectrum typical stretching vibrations of isolated terminal silanol (Si-OH) groups were observed for all the catalysts. These silanol group bands dissappea...
Temperature dependence of the Raman frequencies and bandwidths close to phase transitions in ammonium halides
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (2001-09-01)
In this study, we give the temperature dependence of our observed frequencies and bandwidths for the Raman optical modes in the ammonium halides close to the phase transitions of the first order (NH4 Br), tricritical (NH4Cl) and second order (NH4Cl). Using the predictions of an [sing pseudospin-phonon coupled model, which considers interactions between two spin and two phonons, our observed Raman data have been interpreted qualitatively. Our results show that an Ising model considered here can explain the o...
Infrared fluorescence sensing of submicromolar calcium: pushing the limits of photoinduced electron transfer
Ozmen, B; Akkaya, EU (Elsevier BV, 2000-11-18)
A heptamethine cyanine-BAPTA conjugate was synthesized which signals calcium binding by an almost 4-fold increase in the emission intensity at the emission maximum of 782 nm. This significant enhancement factor opens new possibilities for the development of IR fluorescent chemosensors excitable with an inexpensive 780 nm laser diode and detectable with highly sensitive avalanche diodes.
