Nitro Derivatives of Parabanic Acid as Potential Explosives: A Theoretical Study
Türker, Burhan Lemi; Varis, Serhat (2014-01-01)
This work deals with certain parabanic acid (PA) derivatives because they possess great calculated density (>1.8 gcm(-3)) and high content of nitrogen (26%). Computed ballistic properties of eight different parabanic acid derivatives are presented. The structures were optimized at the B3LYP/6-31G(d, p) level. The calculated data for PA are found to be compatible with the experimental X-ray data. The detonation performance analyses were done using empirical Kamlet-Jacobs equations. Additionally, detonation p...
Nitrite and nitrate removal efficiencies of soil aquifer treatment columns
Güngör, Kerem; Ünlü, Kahraman (2005-05-20)
Bench-scale soil column experiments were performed to examine the effects of soil type and infiltration conditions on the removal efficiencies of wastewater nitrites and nitrates during the biological ripening phase of soil aquifer treatment (SAT) columns. SAT was simulated in three 1-m-high soil columns packed with 3 different natural agricultural soils having sandy clay loam (SCL), loamy sand (LS) and sandy loam (SL) textures. All columns were equipped with tensiometers and soil-water sampling ports, and ...
Polycrystalline plasticity modeling of anisotropic grain structures and statistical size effect in metallic alloys
Orhun, Bulut; Yalçınkaya, Tuncay; Department of Aerospace Engineering (2022-6-14)
In this thesis, two important microstructural phenomena affecting the plastic behavior of metallic materials are addressed through a local crystal plasticity modeling framework. Initially the influence of anisotropic grain structure developing during various forming procedures and additive manufacturing processes is studied following a multiscale modeling strategy, where Representative Volume Elements (RVEs) are analyzed under axial loading conditions. Macroscopic response of different degrees of anisotropi...
Isoconversional methods to determine the kinetics of crude oils - thermogravimetry approach
Kök, Mustafa Verşan; Nurgaliev, Danis K. (Elsevier BV, 2018-08-01)
In this research, kinetics of four crude oils from different origins are determined by iso-conversional methods using thermogravimetry data (TGA-DTG). The experiments were performed at three different heating rates (5-10-15 K/min) between 300 and 1200 K. Thermal characteristics of the crude oil samples such as, reaction intervals and corresponding peak and burn-out temperatures are also determined. Three different iso-conversional methods, known as Starink, Kissinger and Friedman are used in order to determ...
Niobium-Cobalt co-doped Barium Titanate Dielectric Ceramics for Multilayered Ceramic Capacitors
Özgür, Berkay; Öztürk, Abdullah; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2022-8-22)
Niobium (Nb) and Cobalt (Co) co-doped barium titanate ceramics were prepared to stabilize ferroelectric-tetragonal phase transformation of barium titanate. Preparation of ceramics started with mixing barium titanate, niobium oxide and cobalt oxide powders at predetermined concentrations varying from 1 to 3 at%. The mixing was done at wet conditions using distilled water with alumina balls at 50 rpm for 24 h in a ball mill. Then, the mixtures were compacted into 15 mm diameter and 3 mm thick disc shaped pell...
