An all-solution processed and all-colloidal laser is demonstrated using tailored CdSe/CdS core/shell quantum dots, which exhibit highly stable and low-threshold optical gain owing to substantially suppressed non-radiative Auger recombination.

Time-resolved microscopy of femtosecond laser filaments in fused quartz
Kadan, Viktor; Blonskyi, Ivan; Pavlov, Ihor (2022-02-01)
Detailed picture of continuous shape evolution of femtosecond laser pulse has been recorded directly in the process of filament formation in fused silica using time-resolved polarization microscopy with similar to 70 fs temporal resolution. The main stages of the pulse transformation (temporal self-compression and splitting, formation of conical wave) have been studied. The maximum temporal compression has been found to be achieved by the leading subpulse after the time splitting event. It was found that th...
Efficient computation of 2D point-spread functions for diffractive lenses
Ayazgok, Suleyman; Öktem, Sevinç Figen (The Optical Society, 2020-01-10)
Diffractive lenses, such as Fresnel zone plates, photon sieves, and their modified versions, have been of significant recent interest in high-resolution imaging applications. As the advent of diffractive lens systems with different configurations expands, the fast and accurate simulation of these systems becomes crucial for both the design and image reconstruction tasks. Here we present a fast and accurate method for computing the 2D point-spread function (PSF) of an arbitrary diffractive lens. The method i...
Use of a simple transient extension chamber with ETV-ICPMS: quantitative analysis and matrix effects
Ertaş, Gülay (Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), 2003-01-01)
The transient extension (TEx) chamber was developed to provide a simple means of lengthening an electrothermal vaporizer (ETV) signal for the purpose of obtaining a full mass scan from a single ETV firing with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICPMS) detection. The TEx chamber was used for quantitative analysis of natural water (NIST SRM 1640). Quantitative analysis was done for Co, Be, Pb, Sb and Cd. Detection limits for the five elements tested with the TEx chamber were in the 1-10 mug L-1 ran...
Highly Stable Multicrown Heterostructures of Type-II Nanoplatelets for Ultralow Threshold Optical Gain
Dede, Didem; Taghipour, Nima; Quliyeva, Ulviyya; Sak, Mustafa; Keleştemur, Yusuf; Gungor, Kivanc; Demir, Hilmi Volkan (2019-03-01)
Solution-processed type-II quantum wells exhibit outstanding optical properties, which make them promising candidates for light-generating applications including lasers and LEDs. However, they may suffer from poor colloidal stability under ambient conditions and show strong tendency to assemble into face-to-face stacks. In this work, to resolve the colloidal stability and uncontrolled stacking issues, we proposed and synthesized CdSe/CdSe1-xTex/CdS core/multicrown hetero-nanoplatelets (NPLs), controlling th...
Theoretical investigation and design for x-ray lasers and their lithographic application
Demir, Pınar; Bilikmen, Kadri Sinan; Department of Physics (2008)
Grazing incidence pumping (GRIP) is a scheme to produce x-ray lasers and extreme ultraviolet lithography is a means of lithographic production which requires soft x-rays with a bandwidth of 2% centred at 13,5 nm. In this work firstly a grazing incidence pumping of Ni-like Mo and Ne-like Ti x-ray laser media were simulated by using EHYBRID and a post-processor code coupled to it. The required atomic data were obtained from the Cowan code. Besides, the timing issue needed for amplification purpose in a Ti:Sap...
