Shortest path optimization of haul road design in underground mines using an evolutionary algorithm
Yardımcı, Ahmet Güneş; Karpuz, Celal (Elsevier BV, 2019-10-01)
All types of underground mine access serve as permanent openings to transfer men and extracted material throughout the life of an operation. Development and operating costs are predominantly controlled by the haul road length. However, the most common method to design the main haul road is to rely on the empirical knowledge of skilled mine design experts. This is sufficient for simple mine layouts. However, determination of the optimum path without violating navigation constraints in complex underground net...
Use Case Point (UCP) Methodology for Software Effort Estimation
AYYILDIZ, TÜLİN ERÇELEBİ; Koçyiğit, Altan; Kara, Aydin (2012-11-03)
It is an important issue in the software industry to predict how much effort will be required for a software project. The more accurate the effort estimation is in the early product development lifecycle, the higher is the performance in utilization of the resources and the in meeting the deadline requirements. There are some numbers of methodologies developed for effort estimation. Use Case Points (UCP), which is used for extracting and defining the functional requirements of a software system, is very pop...
Lot splitting under learning effects with minimal revenue requirements and multiple lot types
Serin, Yaşar Yasemin (2003-08-01)
The lot splitting problem in the presence of learning is addressed. This work is an extension of an approach proposed for splitting in the case of a single item. We address the issue of a minimal revenue requirement from partial deliveries until a predetermined time. This is achieved by imposing a constraint on what is originally an unconstrained optimization problem. When sublots of different items are involved, the optimal splitting decisions have to be combined with the sequencing of the deliveries. Nume...
Multi-Item Two-Echelon Spare Parts Inventory Control Problem with Batch Ordering in the Central Warehouse
Topan, Engin; Bayındır, Zeynep Pelin; Tan, Tarkan; Department of Industrial Engineering (2010)
In this dissertation, we consider a multi-item two-echelon inventory distribution system in which the central warehouse operates with (Q, R) policy, and each local warehouse implements base-stock policy. The objective is to find the policy parameters minimizing the relevant system-wide costs subject to an aggregate mean response time constraint at each facility. We first propose an exact solution procedure based on a branch-and-price algorithm to find the relevant policy parameters of the system considered....
Information and communıcation technologies in Turkey and other OECD member countries
Erdil, Erkan (2012-01-01)
This paper investigates the economic effects of the ICT revolution. In this regard, economic impacts of ICT are evaluated by touching various segments of social and economic spheres that are deeply affected by the ICT revolution. Further, we present summary of a comprehensive survey of previous studies in the literature on the relationship between economic growth and ICT. Then, we examine the ICT sector in OECD area in general and specifically in Turkey. Depending on the results of all these attempts, we pr...
