Dissipative behavior and gamma-irradiation of silver-sheathed Bi1.8Pb0.4Sr2Ca2Cu3Ox tape
Albiss, BA; Hasan, MK; Al-Akhras, MA; Al-Omari, IA; Shariah, A; Shobaki, J; Azez, KA; Ozkan, H (2000-05-01)
Dissipative mechanisms in Bi1.8Pb0.4Sr2Ca2Cu3Ox tapes were investigated using magnetoresistance measurements and V-I characteristics. A considerable broadening of the resistive transition in applied magnetic field was observed up to a field of 0.5 T. The temperature and magnetic field dependence of the resistance R(T,B) were fitted to the Arrhenius relation and from which the magnetic field dependence of the pinning energy U-0(B) similar to B-alpha with alpha approximate to 0.9 was derived. The variations o...
Excitation and temperature tuned photoluminescence in Tl2In2S3Se layered crystals
Güler, Işıkhan; Hasanlı, Nızamı (2006-12-01)
Photoluminescence spectra of Tl2In2S3Se layered single crystals have been studied in the wavelength region of 535-725 nm and in the temperature range of 22-58 K. Two photoluminescence bands centered at 564 (2.20 eV, A-band) and 642 nm (1.93 eV, B-band) were observed at T = 22 K. Variations of both bands have been investigated as a function of excitation laser intensity in the range from 16 to 516 mW cm(-2). These bands are attributed to recombination of charge carriers through donor-acceptor pairs located i...

Dispersion Corrected DFT Study of Pentacene Thin Films on Flat and Vicinal Au(111) Surfaces
METE, ERSEN; Danışman, Mehmet Fatih (2015-02-19)
Here we present a density functional theory study of pentacene ultrathin films on flat and vicinal [(455)] Au(111) surfaces. We have performed crystal and electronic structure calculations by using PBE and optB86b-vdW functionals and investigated the effects of long-range van der Waals interactions for different coverages starting from a single isolated molecule up to 4 monolayers of coverage. For an isolated molecule both functionals yield the hollow site as the most stable one with the bridge-60 site bein...
