Early phases of different types of isolated neutron star
Ankay, A; Sahin, S; Karanfil, G; Yazgan, E (World Scientific Pub Co Pte Lt, 2005-06-01)
Two Galactic isolated strong X-ray pulsars seem to be in the densest environments compared to other types of Galactic pulsar. X-ray pulsar J1846-0258 can be in an early phase of anomalous X-ray pulsars and soft gamma repeaters if its average braking index is similar to 1.8-2.0. X-ray pulsar J1811-1925 must have a very large average braking index (similar to 11) if this pulsar was formed by SN 386AD. This X-ray pulsar can be in an early phase of the evolution of the radio pulsars located in the region P simi...
Early Age Performance of Binary Fly Ash Portland Cement Blends
Tangüler Bayramtan, Meltem; Akgül, Çağla (2014-04-28)
During the manufacturing of portland cement (PC), massive amounts of raw material and energy are consumed. Besides depletion of natural resources, the CO2 – a major contributor to the greenhouse effect and the global warming - emissions from PC manufacturing (~6% of the global CO2 emissions) is alarming. Supplementary cementititous materials (SCM) can be effectively used to partially replace PC in production of blended cements. These alternative cements are more sustainable when compared to ordinary PC with...
Early yield estimation by photosynthetic pigment abundances using landsat 8 image series
Özcan, Ayşenur; Süzen, Mehmet Lütfi; Leloğlu, Uğur Murat; Department of Geodetic and Geographical Information Technologies (2020-10-13)
Timely estimation of crop yields is critical for monitoring global food production by international organizations as well as governments, farmers and the private sector dealing with storage, import and export of crops and associated products. Satellite remote sensing has the capability to provide near real-time information on a global scale. Combining satellite data and soft computing techniques to predict crop yields is a very effective strategy for continually forecasting crop yields. This thesis pr...
Initial Stages of Oxidation on Graphitic Surfaces: Photoemission Study and Density Functional Theory Calculations
Barinov, Alexei; Malcıoğlu, Osman Barış; Fabris, Stefano; Sun, Tao; Gregoratti, Luca; Dalmiglio, Matteo; Kiskinova, Maya (2009-05-28)
The initial oxidation stages of perfect and defective graphitic surfaces exposed to atomic oxygen have been studied with a combined high-resolution photoemission spectroscopy (HR-PES) and density functional theory (DFT) computational approach. The resulting oxygen-containing surface functional groups are identified by analyzing the multicornponent C 1s and O 1s core level spectra that are then interpreted on the basis of DFF calculations. In the initial oxidation stage, epoxy groups are formed on perfect gr...
Early Stage Detection of Tobacco Mosaic Virus in Tomato Seeds by NMR Relaxometry
Unal, Kubra; Alpas, Hami; Cevik, Bayram; Aktas, Hakan; Oztop, Mecit (null; 2015-08-12)
Because of rapidly increasing population and limited agricultural areas, it becomes compulsory to fight against viral contamination that disrupts effective agricultural production. In this study, use of NMR Relaxometry is investigated to see the effect of salt diffusion and to detect seeds, which had been infected by virus. Tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) infected tomato is chosen since tomato has a high commercial value in sector. T2 relaxation times were measured by using low resolution NMR Relaxometry. Tomato...
