IN-SOURCE AND POSTIRRADIATION POLYMERIZATION OF ACENAPHTHYLENE IN THE SOLID-STATE
KUCUKYAVUZ, S; ULKEM, I; GOKSEL, C (Wiley, 1992-01-01)
Radiation-induced solid state polymerization of acenaphthylene was studied by using Co-60-gamma-rays. The extent of polymerization at room temperature reached 68% when acenaphthylene was irradiated with a dose of 2.5 MGy. Prolonged exposure to the radiation decreased the molecular weight of the polymers. The post-polymerization of acenaphthylene was found to occur at relatively high temperatures close to the melting point of acenaphthylene. Absence of an effective termination step allows the enhancement of ...
In Salah CO2 storage JIP: Carbon dioxide plume extension around KB-502 well - New insights into reservoir behaviour at the In Salah storage site
Durucan, Sevkets; Shi, Ji-Quan; Sınayuç, Çağlar; Korre, Anna (Elsevier BV, 2011-01-01)
Surface uplift has been detected over all three of the In Salah CO2 injection wells with corresponding subsidence also observed over the gas production area. In particular, it has been noted that the surface uplift over KB-502 displays two distinctive lobes aligned along the direction of the maximum principal stress in the region, originating from the heel and the toe of the horizontal wellbore respectively. As part of the work programme within the EU funded CO2ReMoVe project, Imperial College has carried o...
In-process tool point FRF identification under operational conditions using inverse stability solution
Özşahin, Orkun; Özgüven, Hasan Nevzat (2015-02-01)
Self-excited vibrations of machine tools during cutting result in process instability, poor surface finish and reduced material removal rate. In order to obtain stability lobe diagrams to avoid chatter vibrations, tool point frequency response function (FRF) must be determined. In classical machine tool studies, tool point FRF is obtained experimentally or analytically for the idle state of the machine. However, during cutting operations, discrepancies are frequently observed between the stability diagrams ...
IN 738 LC microstructure optimization with heat treatment and simulation to improve mechanical properties of turbine blades
Boyraz, Mustafa Tarık; İmer, Muhsine Bilge; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2018)
IN 738 LC is a Ni-based superalloy that is employed mostly in nozzle guide vanes and turbine blades in gas turbines. In these parts of gas turbines, material is exposed to high temperatures and the highly corrosive environment. Therefore, improvement in high temperature strength (yield strength, creep strength, tensile strength) and corrosion resistance are extremely important. In this study, effect of heat treatment and aluminide coating parameters to IN 738 LC microstructure were investigated. Both experi...
