The initial value problem solution of the nonlinear shallow water–wave equations developed by Kânoğlu (2004) is applied to the benchmark problem — tsunami runup onto a plane beach — and results are compared. Comparisons with the benchmark solution produce identical results.

The ground and first excited states of the decuplet baryons are studied using the two-point QCD sum rule approach. The mass and residue of these states are computed and compared with the existing experimental data and other theoretical predictions. The results for the masses of the ground state particles as well as the excited Delta and Sigma* states are in good consistency with experimental data. Rapidity distributions are presented for events containing either a Z boson or a photon with a single jet in proton-proton collisions produced at the CERN LHC. The data, collected with the CMS detector at root s = 7 TeV, correspond to an integrated luminosity of 5.0 fb(-1).
