Two new donor-acceptor-donor(DAD) polymers type near-infrared (NIR) absorbing polymers containining thiophene as the donor and [1,2,5] chalcogenazolo [ 3,4-f]-benzo [1,2,3] triazole (chalcoen=S (P1a) or Se (P1b)) derivatives as the acceptor unit were designed and synthesized via light induced step-growth polymerization. The effect of different acceptor groups on the electrochemical and optical properties of the polymers was investigated. Highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) energy levels of the resultant black colored soluble polymers were calculated via cyclic voltammetry (CV) as −5.17 and −5.09eV for P1a and P1b, respectively. Optical electronic band gaps were calculated as 0.81 and 0.74eV for P1a and P1b, respectively. Lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energy levels were determined as −4.37 and −4.35eV for P1a and P1b, respectively. NMR and gel-permeation chromatography (GPC) results supported the formation of high-molecular weight species. Synthesized polymers have promising features for application in various optoelectronic devices.

Synthesis and pyrolysis of ABC type miktoarm star copolymers with polystyrene, poly(lactic acid) and poly(ethylene glycol) arms
Ozlem, Suriye; Iskin, Birol; Yilmaz, Gorkem; Kukut, Manolya; Hacaloğlu, Jale; Yagci, Yusuf (2012-10-01)
An ABC type miktoarm star copolymer possessing polystyrene (PS), poly(lactic acid) (PLA) and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) arms was synthesized by combining Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization (ATRP) and Ring Opening Polymerization (ROP) with two click chemistries, namely thiol-ene and copper catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC). For this purpose, a core 1-(allyloxy)-3-azidopropan-2-ol with allyl and azide functionalities was synthesized in two steps. Then, clickable polymers, polystyrene with thiol ...
L-Dopa synthesis using tyrosinase immobilized on magnetic beads
Tuncagil, Sevinc; Kayahan, Senem; BAYRAMOĞLU, GÜLAY; ARICA, MEHMET YAKUP; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Elsevier BV, 2009-06-01)
Magnetic beads were prepared via Suspension polymerization of glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) and methyl methacrylate (MMA) in the presence of ferric ions. Following polymerization, thermal co-precipitation of the Fe(III) ions in the beads with Fe(II) ions under alkaline condition resulted in encapsulation of Fe3O4 nano-crystals within the polymer matrix. The magnetic beads were activated with glutaraldehyde, and tyrosinase enzyme was covalently immobilized on the support via reaction of amino groups under mild...
Synthesis, spectroscopic and electrochemical studies of perylene containing conjugated copolymers
Bayseç, Şebnem; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Yılmaz, Levent; Department of Polymer Science and Technology (2013)
The synthesis , spectroscopic and electrochemical properties of a series of donor-acceptor (DA) type polymers by changing the donor unit (thiophene, dithienopyrrole) polymer backbone were investigated. The synthesized CoP1 and CoP2 were designed to investigate the effect of copolymerization and insertion of perylene tetracarboxylic dimide (PDI) on the structure of benzotriazole (BTz) based polymers. For CoP1 1,7-dibromo-perylene diimide,4,7-dibromo-2-dodecyl-2H-benzo[d][1,2,3]triazole and 2,5 bis(tributylsta...
Synthesis and electroactivity of pyrrole end-functionalized poly(2-methyl-2-oxazoline)
Çırpan, Ali; Toppare, Levent Kamil; YAGCI, Y (2001-11-01)
Poly (2-methyl-2-oxazoline) (PMeOZO) with pyrrole end groups was synthesized by cationic ring polymerization of 2-methyl-2-oxazoline initiated by benzyl bromide and subsequent modification of the halide end group. The structure and electroactivity of the macromonomer thus obtained were confirmed by spectral analysis and cyclic voltametry, respectively. The posssibility of chemical and electrochemical graft copolymerization of PMeOZO with pyrrole was also studied.
Separation of chromate and borate anions by polymer enhanced ultrafiltration from aqueous solutions employing specifically tailored polymers
Oktar Doğanay, Ceren; Özbelge, H. Önder; Department of Chemical Engineering (2007)
In this study two polychelatogens for borate and a polyelectrolyte for chromate retention (R) were designed for investigating the effect of pH and loading (g metal /g polymer) on the separation performances of the synthesized polymers using continuous polymer enhanced ultrafiltration. Increase in pH increased the retention of borate for all of the synthesized polymers. Decrease in the loading resulted in an enhancement in boron retention with PNSM and PNSL. When COP was utilized, retentions remained almost ...
