Mineralogical, petrographical and geochemical properties of zeolite bearing tuffs in nw Anatolia (Turkey)
Özen, Sevgi; Göncüoğlu, Mehmet Cemal; Department of Geological Engineering (2008)
The purpose of this study is to understand the geological, petrographical, mineralogical and geochemical characteristics of analcime-bearing tuffs in the Biga Peninsula and to determine formation process of these tuffs. The study area lies between Ayvacık and Küçükkuyu. The rock units are pre-Eocene basement rocks, Miocene Behram Volcanics (Arıklı Tuff, andesite, andesitic agglomerate), Pliocene volcanics, Miocene lacustrine sediments (Küçükkuyu Formation) and Quaternary alluvium. Analcimes which are found ...

Mineralogic and geochemical characteristics of late quaternary veins from Anamur-Gazipaşa fault zones (S Turkey)
Ünal İmer, Ezgi; Uysal, Tonguç; Dirik, Ramazan Kadir; Ring, Uwe; İmer, Ali; Mutlu, Halim; Temel, Abidin (null; 2018-04-19)
Widespread vein-type carbonate (e.g., travertine) occurrences developed along active fault systems during the late Quaternary period in Turkey, a region of known active tectonism. This study presents preliminary high precision U-series and geochemical data on hypogenic fluids migrated and precipitated as carbonate veins along fractures developed in NNW-SSE trending active fault zones in S Anatolia (Ören-Anamur and Gazipaşa). U-series dates of fault-related carbonate (mainly as calcite) vein and fault plane ...
