Aim: To investigate the role of EF2K in BRCA1-mutated breast cancer. Materials & methods: We developed silica coated cobalt-ferrite (CoFe) nanoparticles for in vivo delivery of small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) into BRCA1-mutated breast cancer. Results: Expression of EF2K is highly upregulated in themajority (78.5%) of BRCA1-mutated patients and significantly associated with poor patient survival and metastasis. Silencing of EF2K reduced cell proliferation, migration and invasion of the cancer cells. In vivo ...
EGFR (Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor)
Hatil, Ayca Circir; Çiçek, Esra; Öyken, Merve; Erson Bensan, Ayşe Elif (2020-01-01)
© 2020 Atlas of Genetics and Cytogenetics in Oncology and Haematology.ERBB family member epidermal receptor tyrosine kinase (EGFR) is composed of 28 exons and 27 introns. EGFR codes for 11 transcripts and 8 of them are protein coding. EGFR is a transmembrane glycoprotein that can be activated by several different ligands such as epidermal growth factor (EGF), transforming growth factor-alpha (TGFA), heparin-binding EGF-like growth factor (HBEGF), betacellulin (BTC), amphiregulin (AREG), epiregulin (EREG), a...
EFL student teachers’ professional identity construction in a dual diploma program
Bekereci, Melike; Çopur, Deniz; Department of English Language Teaching (2016)
This study explores how EFL student teachers of an undergraduate dual diploma program describe their professional identities after spending a year in their partner university in the United States, and after experiencing international and local practice teaching contexts. As a case study, the data were obtained through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, document reviews and focus group interviews. The interviews were audio-recorded and transcribed verbatim. Classroom observations were conducted in ...
EGF containing gelatin-based wound dressings
Ulubayram, K; Cakar, AN; Korkusuz, P; Ertan, C; Hasırcı, Nesrin (2001-06-01)
In case of bulk loss of tissue or non-healing wounds such as burns, trauma, diabetic, decubitus and venous stasis ulcers, a proper wound dressing is needed to cover the wound area, protect the damaged tissue, and if possible to activate the cell proliferation and stimulate the healing process. In this study, synthesis of a novel polymeric bilayer wound dressing containing epidermal growth-factor (EGF)-loaded microspheres was aimed. For this purpose, a natural, nontoxic and biocompatible material, gelatin, w...
EGF-SNX3-EGFR axis drives tumor progression and metastasis in triple-negative breast cancers.
Cicek, Esra; Circir, Ayca; Oyken, Merve; Akbulut Caliskan, Ozge; Dioken, Didem Naz; Guntekin Ergun, Sezen; Cetin-Atalay, Rengul; Sapmaz, Aysegul; Ovaa, Huib; Sahin, Ozgur; Erson Bensan, Ayşe Elif (2021-10-30)
Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) has critical roles in epithelial cell physiology. Over-expression and over-activation of EGFR have been implicated in diverse cancers, including triple-negative breast cancers (TNBCs), prompting anti‐EGFR therapies. Therefore, developing potent therapies and addressing the inevitable drug resistance mechanisms necessitates deciphering of EGFR related networks. Here, we describe Sorting Nexin 3 (SNX3), a member of the recycling retromer complex, as a critical player in...
