In this paper, a small sized transmitting and receiving conformal antenna pair is proposed on a conical surface for C-band radar applications. The antenna pair consists of printed dipole elements and a truncated reflector plane, printed on a flexible and multilayer circuit board. As the antenna pair is wrapped around a conical surface, it can fit in a very small volume, and yet sufficiently low mutual coupling between antennas can be achieved. The antenna also yields wideband characteristics with a directional radiation towards the tip of the cone. As a compact and flexible antenna, it can be well utilized in radar applications such as radio altimeters and proximity sensors.

Dual band quasi-yagi antenna array structure for the side loop reduction by using binomial weighting
Karaçuha, Kamil; Çelik, Feza Turgay (2019-12-01)
In this study, a double-loop resonant type dual-band quasi-Yagi microstrip antenna array is designed. The numerical and experimental analyses are done and the prototype is produced. The antenna array is fed by Binomial weighting to reduce the sidelobes. Operating frequencies are chosen as the free unlicensed Wi-Fi band (2.4-2.48 GHz) and one of the planned 5G band for Europe Zone (3.4-3.8 GHz). The main aim is to have a directive radiation pattern for the higher frequency band and an Omni-like radiation pat...

In this paper, simultaneous multi-point wireless sensing is proposed and demonstrated via multiple sensors in nested split-ring resonator (NSRR) geometry coupled to a single illuminator antenna. In this passive multi-point sensing system, each probe in the sensor array is assigned a non-overlapping spectral interval for frequency shift in response to local mechanical loading around a unique operating resonance frequency in the band of the antenna. Here, it is shown that the antenna is capable of capturing t...

Haykir, Yigit; Karadağ, Savaş; Dagdeviren, Birkan; Demir, Şimşek (2018-11-02)
In this work, design and implementation of broadside altimeter antenna on circular ring surface are performed. Utilizing array factor formulation, possible locations for circular array elements are chosen. Slitted microstrip patch antennas are used for an efficient design. Satisfactory results are obtained for an altimeter antenna that can be utilized in missile, aircraft or spacecraft applications.
A Novel UWB Slot Antenna with a Self-Complementary Matching Network
Ojaroudi, Mohammad; Aydın Çivi, Hatice Özlem (2015-11-03)
In this paper a simple printed slot antenna with an enhanced bandwidth based on self-complementary structures is presented for UWB applications. The proposed antenna consists of a square radiating patch with a microstrip feed-line defected by an inverted U-shaped slot on one side, a rectangular slot and a defected ground plane by an inverted U-shaped strip protruded from rectangular slot on the other side. The antenna provides a wide usable fractional bandwidth of more than 100% (3.2-10.5 GHz). This large o...
Microstrip patch antenna on magnetized cylindrical ferrite substrate
Aydın Çivi, Hatice Özlem (1997-07-18)
Resonant frequencies of microstrip patch antenna on cylindrical magnetized ferrite substrate are evaluated by using cavity approach for thin substrates, Effects of anistropy of ferrite on resonant frequencies are examined. Resonant frequencies of this antenna can be tuned by externally applied magnetic field.
