Determination of coarse aggregate morphological indices and shape properties by 3d photogrammetry method
Rashidzade, Isfandiyar ; Öztürk, Hande Işık; Department of Civil Engineering (2021-4-8)
The morphological properties of the aggregatesplaya crucial role in the performance of the pavements. Therefore, thereexist various empirical methods and image-based approaches that directly or indirectly measure these properties. Image-based approaches are majorly classified as two-dimensional (2D) or three dimensional (3D). It has been reported in many studies that the 3D methods capture the overall aggregate morphological and shape properties more accurately than any 2D al...
Determination of weak transmission links by cluster analysis
Ertuğrul, Hamza Oğuz; Özay, Nevzat; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2009)
Due to faults and switching, transmission lines encounter power oscillations referred as power swings. Although in most cases they do not lead to an eventual instability, severe changes in power flows on the lines may cause the operation of impedance relays incorrectly, leading to cascaded tripping of other lines. Out-of-Step tripping function is employed in modern distance relays to distinguish such an unstable swing but setting the parameters and deciding lines to be tripped require detailed dynamic power...
Determination of vibroacoustical behavior of plates by intensity methods
İnalpolat, Murat; Çalışkan, Mehmet; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2004)
In this study, sound radiation and power flow characteristics of plates which constitute the bodies of common engineering applications like cars and household appliances are investigated. Three different vibro-acoustical measurement techniques are used in an integrated manner and results obtained are compared with those obtained from analytical models developed. Two-microphone sound intensity measurement with a probe utilizing side-by-side configuration is used to analyze the near-field radiation characteri...
DETERMINATION OF THE RELAXATION SPECTRUM FROM OSCILLATORY SHEAR DATA
ORBEY, N; DEALY, JM (1991-08-01)
In order to use either a linear or nonlinear model of viscoelasticity to calculate the stress response of a material to various deformations, it is usually necessary to have available an explicit equation for the linear relaxation modulus G(t). The most popular procedure is to use the data from a small-amplitude oscillatory shear experiment to determine the parameters of a generalized Maxwell model. However, this is an ill-posed problem and is not at all a straightforward curve-fitting operation. We comp...
Determination of trapping center parameters of Tl2InGaS4-layered crystals by thermally stimulated current measurements
Mogaddam, Nader A. P.; Yuksek, N. S.; Hasanlı, Nızamı; Ozkan, H. (Elsevier BV, 2006-06-29)
We have carried out thermally stimulated current measurements on as-grown Tl2InGaS4-layered single crystals in the low temperature range 10-60 K with different heating rates. We found experimental evidence for the presence of two shallow hole trapping centers with activation energies of 4 and 10 meV. We have determined the trap parameters using various methods of analysis, and these agree with each other. Their capture cross-sections have been found to be 6.5 x 10(-26) and 4.0 x 10(-25) cm(2), respectively,...
