Theoretical investigation and design for x-ray lasers and their lithographic application
Demir, Pınar; Bilikmen, Kadri Sinan; Department of Physics (2008)
Grazing incidence pumping (GRIP) is a scheme to produce x-ray lasers and extreme ultraviolet lithography is a means of lithographic production which requires soft x-rays with a bandwidth of 2% centred at 13,5 nm. In this work firstly a grazing incidence pumping of Ni-like Mo and Ne-like Ti x-ray laser media were simulated by using EHYBRID and a post-processor code coupled to it. The required atomic data were obtained from the Cowan code. Besides, the timing issue needed for amplification purpose in a Ti:Sap...
Investigation of quasi-periodic noise features in x-persei
Acuner, Zeynep; Baykal, Altan; Department of Physics (2014)
In this thesis, timing and spectral properties of the Be type X-ray binary XPersei based on Rossi X-Ray Timing Explorer (RXTE) have been presented. Results of the power spectral analysis of RTXE data show QPO features detected between ⇠ 0.1-0.4 Hz which are reported for the first time. Another significant property of X-Per’s power spectra is the time dependent excess that can be observed between 0.01-0.08 Hz throughout the observations. These power excesses are interpreted as an inherent feature of source’s...
The controlled drift detector as an x-ray imaging device for diffraction enhanced imaging
Özkan, Çiğdem; Serin, Meltem; Department of Physics (2009)
Diffraction Enhanced Imaging (DEI) is an X-ray imaging technique providing specific information about the molecular structure of a tissue by means of coherently scattered photons. A Controlled Drift Detector (CDD) is a novel 2D silicon imager developed to be used in X-ray imaging techniques. In this work a final (complete and detailed) analysis of DEI data taken with the CDD in the ELETTRA synchrotron light source facility in Trieste (Italy) in 2005, is presented and the applicability of both this new techn...
System identification and control of a fixed wing aircraft by using flight data obtained from x-plane flight simulator
Çetin, Ender; Kutay, Ali Türker; Department of Aerospace Engineering (2018)
In this thesis, a linear state-space model of an aircraft is obtained by applying numerical integration system identification method. Flight test data used in the system identification is obtained by using X-Plane flight simulation program. In X-Plane Flight Simulator, the flight tests are made by using different excitations on the control surfaces. The linear models obtained by system identification are verified by applying the inputs to the linear model and then the outputs are compared with the X-Plane f...
Modelling of X-Band electromagnetic wave propagation
Pelgur, Ali; Koç, Seyit Sencer; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2007)
Calculation of electromagnetic wave propagation over irregular terrain is an important problem in many applications such as coverage calculations for radars or communication links. Many different approaches to this problem may be found in the literature. One of the most commonly used methods to solve electromagnetic boundary value problems is the Method of Moments (MoM). However, especially at high frequencies, the very large number of unknows required in the MoM formulation, limits the applicability of thi...
