On the tight contact structures on seıfert fibred 3−manifolds with 4 singular fibers
Medetoğulları, Elif; Ozan, Yıldıray; Department of Mathematics (2010)
In this thesis, we study the classification problem of Stein fillable tight contact structures on any Seifert fibered 3−manifold M over S 2 with 4 singular fibers. In the case e0(M) · −4 we have a complete classification. In the case e0(M) ¸ 0 we have obtained upper and lower bounds for the number of Stein fillable contact structures on M.
Lead(II) adsorption on thiourea treated graphene oxide in aqueous solutions
Ersoy Özmen, Güliz; Gökağaç Arslan, Gülsün; Department of Chemistry (2019)
Lead poisoning has serious damages on the human health. The Pb+2 contamination in water affects the kidneys and nervous, cardiovascular, immune, reproductive and developmental systems resulting in Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and Schizophrenia diseases. One of the ways that human are exposed to lead is through water resources, therefore, removing lead from aqueous solutions is a significant issue in our everyday life. It is known that graphene oxide (GO) is a promising material to remove Pb+2 ions due to its hi...
Yield curve estimation and prediction with Vasicek Model
Bayazıt, Derviş; Hayvafi, Azize; Department of Financial Mathematics (2004)
The scope of this study is to estimate the zero-coupon yield curve of tomorrow by using Vasicek yield curve model with the zero-coupon bond yield data of today. The raw data of this study is the yearly simple spot rates of the Turkish zero-coupon bonds with different maturities of each day from July 1, 1999 to March 17, 2004. We completed the missing data by using Nelson-Siegel yield curve model and we estimated tomorrow yield cuve with the discretized Vasicek yield curve model.
Optimum design of parallel, horizontal and laminar forced convection air-cooled rectangular channels with insulated lateral surfaces
Özdemir, Mehmet Ozan; Yüncü, Hafit; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2009)
The objective of this thesis is to predict numerically the optimal spacing between parallel heat generating boards. The isothermal boards are stacked in a fixed volume of electronic package enclosed by insulated lateral walls, and they are cooled by laminar forced convection of air with prescribed pressure drop. Fixed pressure drop assumption is an acceptable model for installations in which several parallel boards in electronic equipment receive the coolant from the same source such as a fan. In the numeri...
