Drop test simulation of a munition with foams and parametric study on foam geometry and material
Gerçeker, Bora; Ulaş, Abdullah; Parnas, Kemal Levend; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2012)
Unintentional drop of munitions could be encountered during the storage, transportation, and loading processes. In such an impact, malfunctioning of crucial components of munitions is the worst scenario that may be encountered and level of loads should not reach to critical levels. From two possible methods, experimental one is not frequently applied owing to high cost of money and time. On the contrary, particularly in last couple of years, interest is shifted to numerical simulations such as finite elemen...

Segregation formation, thermal and electronic properties of ternary cubic CdZnTe clusters: MD simulations and DFT calculations
KURBAN, MUSTAFA; Erkoç, Şakir (Elsevier BV, 2017-04-01)
Surface and core formation, thermal and electronic properties of ternary cubic CdZnTe clusters are investigated by using classical molecular dynamics (MD) simulations and density functional theory (DFT.) calculations. In this work, MD simulations of the CdZnTe clusters are performed by means of LAMMPS by using bond order potential (BOP). MD simulations are carried out at different temperatures to study the segregation phenomena of Cd, Zn and Te atoms, and deviation of clusters and heat capacity. After that,...
Discharge estimations with regression analysis using basin parameters and gis techniques
Pekpınarlı, Hakan; Usul, Nurünnisa; Department of Geodetic and Geographical Information Technologies (2005)
Discharge estimations at certain cross sections of streams are very important for hydrologic studies especially for designs. In this study, it is aimed to determine regional mathematical equations that represent annual and monthly average discharges at desired locations using basin characteristics obtained with Geographical Information Systems (GIS) techniques and regression analysis. Study area covers three river basins, which are Gediz, Küçük Menderes and Büyük Menderes. The data used are Digital Elevatio...
SETTLING KINETICS OF CHAMPAGNE YEAST
ARIKAN, O; OZILGEN, M (Elsevier BV, 1992-09-01)
Settling kinetics of champagne yeast were studied with 0.01, 0.05, and 0.10 m NaCl, CaCl2, AlCl3, and 1.00 +/- 0.01 OD660 (optical density at 660 nm) initial yeast concentration at pH 1. In the suspensions with 0.01 M NaCl, the pH of the medium varied between 1 and 3, and the initial yeast concentration changed between 0.74 and 1.25 OD660. Analysis of the data showed that the settling phenomena occurred in two steps: (i) establishment of the diffuse double layer to overcome repulsion, hence achievement of c...
