Leveraging the Molecular Signatures of Cancer for Dynamic Network Modeling

Molecular heterogeneity and resistance to the treatment are among the obstacles in developing treatment strategies in cancer. Therefore, transforming patient-specific molecular data into clinically interpretable knowledge is fundamental in personalized medicine. However, not all molecular alterations drive cancer. The distinction of drivers from latent drivers and passengers, their cooperativity and exclusivity, and the temporal order of accumulation of molecular alterations is a crucial yet daunting, unsol...
Improved link prediction for location based social networks with novel features and contextual feature reduction
Bayrak, Ahmet Engi; Polat, Faruk; Department of Computer Engineering (2019)
High penetration of broadband Internet access has made a revolution on the web usage, where users have become content generators rather than just consuming. People started to communicate, interact, maintain relationship and share data (image, video, note, location, etc.) with their acquaintances through varying online social network sites which are the key factors of that internet usage revolution. Online social networks with location sharing and interaction between people are called Location Based Social N...
Full-Wave Computational Analysis of Optical Chiral Metamaterials
Guler, Sadri; Solak, Birol; Gür, Uğur Meriç; Ergül, Özgür Salih (2017-09-27)
We present computational analysis of optical chiral metamaterials that consist of helical metallic elements. At optical frequencies, metals are modeled as penetrable objects with plasmonic properties. A rigorous implementation based on boundary element methods and the multilevel fast multipole algorithm is used for efficient and accurate analysis of three-dimensional structures. Numerical results demonstrate interesting polarization-rotating characteristics of such arrays with helical elements, as well as t...
