Deformation and failure analysis of laminated composites by isogeometric elements formulation
Aydın, Cansın Bade; Darendeliler, Haluk; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2020)
The finite element method (FEM) is the most widely used technique for solution ofengineering problems. In classical finite element analysis (FEA) procedure, the exactgeometry generated in computer aided design software is regenerated to have an anal-ysis suitable model, then this model is used for solution. Isogeometric analysis (IGA)is a computational approach which eliminates the modification phase of the actualgeometry in FEA. Instead, IGA employs the same mathematical model which definesthe geometry in ...

Deformation Analysis of Elastic-Plastic Two Layer Tubes Subject to Pressure: an Analytical Approach
Eraslan, Ahmet Nedim (2004-06-01)
Analytical solutions are obtained for axisymmetric elastic-plastic deformations in tightly fitted concentric tubes with fixed ends subjected to either internal or external pressure. Tresca's yield criterion and its associated flow rule are used to estimate the elastic-plastic response of the assembly. The closed form solutions for all elastic-plastic deformation stages are obtained by assuming linear hardening material behavior. Some numerical examples are handled using the mechanical properties of real eng...
DEFORMATION ANALYSIS OF TWO LAYER COMPOSITE TUBES UNDER CYCLIC LOADING OF EXTERNAL PRESSURE
Eraslan, Ahmet Nedim (2016-01-01)
The stress response of axially constrained two-layer composite tubes under cyclic loading of external pressure is investigated in this study. Elastic and elastoplastic stress states for the tube assemblies are examined by developing a mathematical model based on Tresca's yield criterion, its associated ow rule, and linear strain hardening. Using this model, the composite tubes with different dimensions are analyzed under one cycle of loading, unloading, and reloading of external pressure. It is observed tha...
