Thirring model interpretation of incommensurate charge density wave. I
Durgut, Metin; Pak, Namık Kemal (Elsevier BV, 1987-2)
It is shown that the one-dimensional incommensurate charge density wave system is equivalent to the Thirring model. Its static classical solutions are kink solutions of the phonon phase and localized electron sollutions. Impurity effects on the solutions are also discussed.
Bergstrom-Boyce model for nonlinear finite rubber viscoelasticity: theoretical aspects and algorithmic treatment for the FE method
Dal, Hüsnü (2009-11-01)
One of the successful approaches to model the time-dependent behaviour of elastomers is proposed by Bergstrom and Boyce (JMPS 46:931-954, 1998). The model is micromechanically inspired from the relaxation of a single entangled chain in a polymer gel matrix. Although the theory of inelasticity based on multiplicative decomposition of the deformation gradient is well established, the complexity of the nonlinear evolution law as well as the nonlinear equilibrium and non-equilibrium material response necessitat...
Kalman-filter-based observer design around optimal control policy for gas pipelines
Durgut, I; Leblebicioğlu, Mehmet Kemal (1997-01-30)
Seeking the optimal operating policy by an off-line controller for pipelines carrying natural gas has an inherent state estimation problem associated with deviations from demand forecast. This paper presents a Kalman-filter-based observer for the real-time estimation of deviations from the states previously obtained by an off-line controller optimally, around an expected demand function. The observer is based on the linearized form of the non-linear partial differential equations which are the state space r...
