In this paper, the two-user interference channel with a half-duplex relay is studied. The relay does not hear one of the sources. The relay's transmission is beneficial for one of the receivers, whereas it is merely interference for the other. At the receivers the interference is either treated as noise, or if possible decoded first and subtracted from the received signal to enhance the direct transmission quality. Probability of outage for each user is computed and compared as the channels are assumed to be fading and no channel state information is available at the transmitters. Despite the fact that the relay causes interference to one of the users, it is shown that the relay is useful to both the receivers. ©2010 IEEE.

Ultra wideband tightly coupled reflectarray antenna
Koldaş, Mutlu; Aydın Çivi, Hatice Özlem; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2022-2-08)
In this thesis, an ultra wideband tightly coupled dipole reflectarray antenna is de signed, fabricated, and measured. This reflectarray consists of a wideband log-periodic dipole array feed antenna and a reflecting surface. The unit element of the reflecting surface is a tightly coupled overlapping bowtie dipole attached with a delay line to approach ultra wideband aim. Infinite array approach and Floquet port excitation ap plied in unit cell simulations to obtain reflection phase curves versus the length o...
Improvement of finite element model by using sine vibration test results of acommunication satellite
Çekiç, Abdulkadir; Yaman, Yavuz; Department of Aerospace Engineering (2021-2-15)
In this thesis, the vibration analysis of a communication satellite is performed, and the improvementof the finite element model by using vibration test results is presented. First, the satellite finite element model isgenerated using MSC/PATRAN and MSC/NASTRAN commercial software. With the natural frequency and frequency response analysis, the expected frequency values and response amplitudes in accelerometers arecalculated in vibration tests. The results obtained in the vib...
Minimum Common Outage Probability for the Broadcast Relay Channel
Isikman, Arif Onder; Yüksel Turgut, Ayşe Melda (2011-01-01)
In this paper the broadcast relay channel (BRC) is studied. In the BRC model, the source communicates with two destinations with the help of a single relay. The minimum common outage probability for four different transmission protocols, direct transmission (DT), multihop (MH), path selection (PS) and link combination with path selection (LCPS) is investigated under long-term power constraint for constant rate transmission. In addition, the epsilon-outage rate region for a fixed common outage probability is...
2D simulations based on the general time dependent reciprocal relation and initial experiments for LFEIT /
Karadaş, Mürsel; Gençer, Nevzat Güneri; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2014)
In this study, the new imaging modality Lorentz Field Electrical Impedance Tomography (LFEIT) is investigated. In LFEIT, the main aim is finding the conductivity distribution of different tissues. This method is based on the development of the current density distribution in the conductive medium. To develop the current density, the object is located in a static magnetic field and pressure wave due to an ultrasonic transducer develops particle movements inside the body. As a result, a velocity current distr...
FMCW radar altimeter test board
Vural, Aydın; Hızal, Altunkan; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2003)
In this thesis, principles of a pulse modulated frequency modulated continuous wave radar is analyzed and adding time delay to transmitted signal in the laboratory environment performed. The transmitted signal from the radar has a time delay for traveling the distance between radar and target. The distance from radar to target is more than one kilometers thus test of the functionality of the radar in the laboratory environment is unavailable. The delay is simulated regarding to elapsed time for the transmit...
