CONSTELLATION REARRANGEMENT FOR 4-PAM REPETITION CODING

2014-01-01
In fading channels to get diversity gain, transmitted data can be repeated in time or frequency. Constellation reaarangement can be used instead of using the same signal constellation for each repeated transmission. In this method, symbols and the points in the signal space can be chosen differently for each one of the diversity branches. On the other hand, power allocation is another method that improves the performance. In this paper, repetition coding that uses signal constellations of 4-pulse amplitude modulation and signal constellation reaarangement are compared for both fixed and optimal power allocation. It is observed that most of the gain is due to constellation rearrangement and advantages of power allocation are limited.

The Effect of Antenna Correlation in Single-Carrier Massive MIMO Transmission
Beigiparast, Nader; Güvensen, Gökhan Muzaffer; Ayanoglu, Ender (2018-07-20)
This work presents a single-carrier massive MIMO transmission system for the frequency selective Gaussian multi-user channel. It considers both cases of spatially uncorrelated and correlated channel and compares them in terms of the user sum-rate as well as the general performance. We consider a channel with M antennas at the base station which provides services for K single-antenna users. We develop a general expression for the achievable rate among users in the channel with a correlation among antennas at...
Joint spatial and temporal channel-shortening techniques for frequency selective fading MIMO channels
Toker, Canan; Chambers, JA; Baykal, Buyurman (2005-02-01)
It is well understood that the maximum likelihood estimator is a powerful equalisation technique for frequency selective fading channels, and in particular for MIMO systems. The complexity of this estimator, however, grows exponentially with the number of users and multipath taps, hence limiting the use of this algorithm in MIMO systems. In the paper, the authors propose a joint spatial and temporal channel-shortening filter as a pre-processor to reduce significantly the complexity of a maximum likelihood e...
gamma-Gruneisen relations close to lambda-phase transitions in NH4Cl
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (1996-08-01)
In this study we have correlated the frequency shifts of the acoustic modes to the volume changes by means of our gamma-Gruneisen relations near the lambda-phase transitions in NH4Cl. Using the acoustic frequencies and the length-change data for NH4Cl from the literature, we first calculated the Gruneisen gamma values for the LA modes along the (100) and (110) directions and for the TA mode along the (110) direction. We then predicted the acoustic mode frequencies across the lambda-phase transitions in NH4Cl.
Broadcast strategies for the fading relay channel
Yüksel Turgut, Ayşe Melda; Erkip, E (2004-01-01)
Broadcast strategy is an encoding technique that enables the reliably decoded rate to adapt to the actual channel state. This can be achieved if the transmitted signal is composed or superimposed information for different fading levels. In this work we apply the broadcast strategy to fading relay channels. The source encodes its information to two levels, the first one is decoded ir the channel state is "bad", and the superimposed information is decoded after the first one, ir the channel state is "good". T...
Channel phase and data estimation in slowly fading frequency nonselective channels
Zeydan, Engin; Demirbaş, Kerim; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2006)
In coherent receivers, the effect of the multipath fading channel on the transmitted signal must be estimated to recover the transmitted data. In this thesis, the channel phase and data estimation problems are investigated in a transmitted data sequence when the channel is modeled as slowly fading, frequency non-selective channel. Channel phase estimation in a transmitted data sequence is investigated and data estimation is obtained in a symbol-by-symbol MAP receiver that is designed for minimum symbol erro...
