alpha-Tricalcium phosphate hydrolysis to hydroxyapatite at and near physiological temperature
Durucan, Caner (2000-06-01)
The kinetics of hydroxyapatite (HAp) formation by direct hydrolysis of alpha-tricalcium phosphate (alpha-TCP) [alpha-Ca-3(PO4)(2)] have been investigated. Transformation kinetics were examined for reactions at 37 degrees C, 45 degrees C and 56 degrees C by isothermal calorimetric analysis. Setting times and morphologies of the resultant HAp were found to be strongly dependent on reaction temperature. XRD analysis accompanied by FTIR confirmed that phase pure calcium-deficient hydroxyapatite (CDHAp) [Ca10-x(...

Alpha-tricalcium phosphate (alpha-TCP): solid state synthesis from different calcium precursors and the hydraulic reactivity
Cicek, Gulcin; Aksoy, Eda Ayse; Durucan, Caner; Hasırcı, Nesrin (2011-04-01)
The effects of solid state synthesis process parameters and primary calcium precursor on the cement-type hydration efficiency (at 37A degrees C) of alpha-tricalcium phosphate (Ca-3(PO4)(2) or alpha-TCP) into hydroxyapatite (Ca10-xHPO4(PO4)(6-x)(OH)(2-x) x = 0-1, or HAp) have been investigated. alpha-TCP was synthesized by firing of stoichiometric amount of calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and monetite (CaHPO4) at 1150-1350A degrees C for 2 h. Three commercial grade CaCO3 powders of different purity were used as th...
N-Substituted aziridine-2-phosphonic acids and their antibacterial activities
Khan, Rehan; Doğan, Özdemir; Guven, Kiymet (ACG Publications, 2020-04-01)
N-substituted aziridine diethyl phosphonates were synthesized easily in two steps starting from vinyl phosphonate or acetyl phosphonate. The controlled mono hydrolysis without opening the aziridine ring under mild reaction conditions was achieved by alkaline solution of LiOH. The corresponding phosphoric acid lithium salt was desalted by the use of Amberlite IRC-50H(+) acting as an efficient and recyclable weakly acidic cation exchange promoter. Antimicrobial activity of the synthesized compounds was tested...
