The existence of local short-range order is established in alloys Ni-1. 5 at. % Os and Co-1. 5, 1. 3 and 0. 5 at. % Os. The ordering energies and parameters are calculated by the pseudopotential allowing for the size effect. The latter is bound to make a contribution to the ordering energy.

Identification of periodic autoregressive moving average models
Akgün, Burçin; Ayhan, Hüseyin Öztaş; Ula, Taylan A.; Department of Statistics (2003)
In this thesis, identification of periodically varying orders of univariate Periodic Autoregressive Moving-Average (PARMA) processes is mainly studied. The identification of the varying orders of PARMA process is carried out by generalizing the well-known Box-Jenkins techniques to a seasonwise manner. The identification of pure periodic moving-average (PMA) and pure periodic autoregressive (PAR) models are considered only. For PARMA model identification, the Periodic Autocorrelation Function (PeACF) and Per...
Investigation of the recharge and discharge mechanisms of a complex aquifer system by using environmental isotopes and noble gases
Arslan, Şebnem; Yazıcıgil, Hasan; Department of Geological Engineering (2008)
This study aims to determine the recharge, discharge and the mixing mechanisms of a complex aquifer system located above the Kazan trona ore field using the environmental isotopes of deuterium, oxygen-18, carbon-13 and carbon-14, chlorofluorocarbons (CFC- 11, CFC-12 and CFC-113) and the noble gas isotopes (He, Ne, Ar, Kr and Xe). The groundwater system consists of three different aquifers: shallow, middle and deep. The Akpınar formation lying between deep and middle systems acts as an aquitard. Oxygen-18 an...
Synthesis of tin oxide-coated gold nanostars and evaluation of their surface-enhanced Raman scattering activities
Elcı, Aylin; Demırtas, Ozge; Öztürk, İbrahim Murat; Bek, Alpan; Nalbant Esentürk, Emren (2018-12-01)
Tin oxide-coated gold nanostar hybrid nanostructures are prepared by first synthesizing gold nanostars (ca. 400nm), then introducing Na2SnO3 precursor followed by its hydrolysis and formation of a tin oxide layer on nanoparticle surface. The synthesized hybrid structures have been characterized by combination of UV-Vis spectroscopy, transmission electron microscope (TEM), energy-dispersive X-ray studies, scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-Ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectr...
ELECTRONIC THEORY OF SHORT-RANGE ORDER OF THREE-COMPONENT ALLOYS USING THE PSEUDOPOTENTIAL APPROXIMATION.
Katsnel'son, A.A.; Mehrabov, Amdulla; Silonov, V.M. (1981-01-01)
The authors develop a theory of short-range order in order to obtain relations associating order parameters with the pseudopotentials and valencies of the components.
Experimental and numerical analysis of compression on a forging press
Biçer, Gökhan; Gökler, Mustafa İlhan; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2010)
Forging is a metal forming process which involves non-linear deformations. Finite element and finite volume software programs are commonly used to simulate the process. In these simulations, material properties are required. However, stress-strain relations of the materials at some elevated temperatures are not available in the material libraries of the related software programs. In this study, the stress-strain curves have been obtained by applying the Cook and Larke Simple Compression Test to AISI 1045 st...
