The thermal gradient history of the Thrace Basin, NW Turkey: Correlation with basin evolution processes
Huvaz, O.; Karahanoğlu, Nurkan; Ediger, V. S. (Wiley, 2007-01-01)
Thermal maturity modelling is widely used in basin modelling to help assess the exploration risk. Of the calibration algorithms available, the Easy%Ro model has gained wide acceptance. In this study, thermal gradients at 70 wells in the Thrace Basin, NW Turkey, were calibrated against vitrinite reflectance (%Ro) using the Easy%Ro model combined with an inverse scheme. The mean squared residual (MSR) was used as a quantitative measure of mismatch between the modelled and measured %Ro. A 90% confidence interv...
The geodynamic evolution of the Intra-Pontide Suture Zone, Central Turkey: evidence from the ophiolite-bearing Arkot Dağ Melange
Pandolfi, L.; Göncüoğlu, Mehmet Cemal; Marroni, M.; Ellero, A.; Ottria, G.; Catanzariti, R.; Tekin, Uğur Kağan; Sayıt, Kaan (2014-09-12)
The Jurassic Cretaceous Boundary in marine sedimentary successions in Turkey: a review
Yılmaz, İsmail Ömer (2018-12-07)
Microfacies and high resolution studies at the Kurovice quarry (Czech Republic, Outer Western Carpathians) on calpionellids, calcareous and non-calcareous dinoflagellate cysts, sporomorphs and calcareous nannofossils, aligned with paleomagnetism, allow construction of a detailed stratigraphy and paleoenvironmental interpretation across the Jurassic/Cretaceous (J/K) boundary. The Kurovice section consists of allodapic and micrite limestones and marlstones. Identified standard microfacies types SMF2, SMF3 and...
The Jurassic-Early Cretaceous basalt-chert association in the ophiolites of the Ankara Melange, east of Ankara, Turkey: age and geochemistry
Bortolotti, Valerio; Chiari, Marco; Göncüoğlu, Mehmet Cemal; Principi, Gianfranco; Saccani, Emilio; TEKİN, UĞUR KAĞAN; Tassinari, Renzo (2018-02-01)
This study is focused on slide blocks including oceanic lavas associated with pelagic sediments within the eastern part of the Ankara Melange. A detailed petrological characterization of the volcanic rocks and a detailed biochronological investigation of the associated radiolarian cherts in eight sections (east of Ankara) was carried out. The volcanic rocks are largely represented by basalts and minor ferrobasalts and trachytes. They show different geochemical affinities and overlapping ages including: (a) ...
The structure of the Palaeozoic schists in the southern Menderes Massif, western Turkey: a new approach to the origin of the main Menderes Metamorphism and its relation to the Lycian Nappes
Bozkurt, Erdin (1999-01-01)
The Early Eocene to Early Oligocene tectonic history of the Menderes Massif involves a major regional Barrovian-type metamorphism (M-1, Main Menderes Metamorphism, MMM), present only in the Palaeozoic-Cenozoic metasediments (the so-called "cover" of the massif), which reached upper amphibolite facies with local anatectic melting at structurally lower levels of the cover rocks and gradually decreased southwards to greenschist facies at structurally higher levels. it is not present in the augen gneisses (the ...
