And Is this really freedom? The Ambivalence of Late Ottoman and Early Republican Spaces of Femininity
Özkaya, Ayşe Belgin (2007-10-27)
So What Comes Next? Constructive Randomness Within Products
Şener Pedgley, Bahar; Pedgley, Owaın Francıs (2019-3-19)
Product design is most often about building order and predictable functions into objects. There exists however a fascinating array of products that possess some purposeful disorder and unpredictability. These products embrace the concept of randomness and interaction with such products brings an experience of being out of control. This paper discusses the concept and application of randomness in product design through a two- pronged methodology: partly a survey of prior academic art and partly an analysis o...
A boundary of the second multiplicative concept: the case of Milo
Hackenberg, Amy J.; Sevinç, Şerife (2021-08-01)
Students entering sixth grade operate with three different multiplicative concepts that influence their reasoning in many domains important for middle school. For example, students who are operating with the second multiplicative concept (MC2 students) can begin to construct fractions as lengths but do not construct improper fractions as numbers. Students who are operating with the third multiplicative concept (MC3 students) can construct both proper and improper fractions as multiples of unit fractions. Th...
THE FULL EXPERIMENT IN B-]SL(+)L(-)-DECAY
Alıyev, Tahmasıb; PAK, NK; REKALO, MP (1995-08-17)
We propose a method for model-independent determination of the Wilson coefficients in inclusive b --> si(+)l(-) decay, by employing the double energetic distribution of the lepton pair.
THE NOISE IN THE 35-D CYCLE OF HER X-1
Baykal, Altan; DEETER, JE; SCOTT, DM (1993-11-15)
We calculate the power density spectrum of fluctuations in the X-ray turn-on times of Her X-1, including new data which extend the X-ray and optical flux observations to a span of over 20 yr with 221 distinct 35-d high-low flux cycles. If we assume that turn-on times define the period of the 35-d clock, this statistical interpretation of turn-on behaviour is consistent with a white-noise process in the first derivative of the 35-d phase fluctuations (or a random walk in clock phase). We discuss the implicat...
