Building Morphological Chains for Agglutinative Languages
Ozen, Serkan; CAN BUĞLALILAR, BURCU (2017-04-23)
In this paper, we build morphological chains for agglutinative languages by using a log linear model for the morphological segmentation task. The model is based on the unsupervised morphological segmentation system called MorphoChains [1]. We extend MorphoChains log linear model by expanding the candidate space recursively to cover more split points for agglutinative languages such as Turkish, whereas in the original model candidates are generated by considering only binary segmentation of each word. The re...

Building Dicer1 regulation network of mouse liver hepatocytes
Ünsal, Şeyma; Beyge, Mahmut; Aydın Son, Yeşim (2012-06-29)
RNA induced gene silencing complex (RISC) has a role in many cellular processes which includes regulation of gene expression, immune response, cell differentiation and embryonic development. Dicer protein is a key regulator of these processes. Dicer1 specifically has central role in maturation of RISC substrate RNA and RISC assembly in mouse. Here the results of a microarray study that investigates the molecular level changes in dicer1 knockout mouse liver hepatocytes is re-analysed and the differentially r...
Constructing computational models of nature for architecture: a case on transcoding the ıntelligence of cactus
Erdoğan, Elif; Sorguç, Arzu; Department of Architecture (2012)
The environment of knowledge exchange between computation and biology elicits a contemporary approach towards architecture. Computation, as an overarching mode of thinking, instructs the analysis, understanding and reinterpretation of the un-formal structure of natural organizations (such as systematic construct, information flow, and process through time) for architectural form generation. Consequently, the computing theory originates a mind-shift where processes, relations, and dependencies are a major co...
Designing a constructivist vocabulary learning material
Daloğlu, Ayşegül; Yıldırım, İbrahim Soner (Information Science Reference, 2009-01-01)
This chapter outlines how the constructivist approach can be implemented in Web-based vocabulary teaching, characteristics of effective Web-based vocabulary teaching materials, and a model for effective Web-based vocabulary teaching and recycling. In WEBVOCLE which stands for Web-Based Vocabulary Learning, contextual presentation of the words has been enriched with audible vocabulary and repeated with interactive exercises, games, and puzzles in 'spaced revisions' in a constructivist Web-supported environme...
