Modeling and rheology of HTPB based composite solid propellants
Erisken, C; Gocmez, A; Yilmazer, U; Pekel, F; Özkar, Saim (Wiley, 1998-08-01)
The propellant with the minimum viscosity required for a defect-free casting can be obtained by proper selection of the size and fractions of solid components leading to maximum packing density. Furnas' model was used to predict the particulate composition for the maximum packing density. Components with certain size dispersions were combined to yield a size distribution that is closest to the optimum one given by Furnas for maximum packing. The closeness of the calculated size distribution to the optimum o...
Modelling and experimental study of titanosilicate ets-10 : application for solar cells
Koç, Mehmet; Akata Kurç, Burcu; Toffoli, Hande; Department of Micro and Nanotechnology (2013)
Density functional theory (DFT) calculations within the gradient-corrected approximation (GGA) have been carried out on three models of ETS-10 with the aim to elucidate the effect of ion exchange on the structural, electronic and vibrational properties of the Ti-O-Ti quantum wire. Our data are reveal the presence of two inequivalent Ti-O bonds along the chain in the ETS-10 sodium form, in agreement with past theoretical and experimental studies. The nature and spectral position of the ligand-to-metal charge...

Modelling and performance analysis of linear fresnel collector for process heat generation for ice cream factory in Konya
Singh, Rahul; Baker, Derek Keıth; Tarı, İlker; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2017)
In this thesis, a linear Fresnel collector has been designed to supply solar heat for industrial process. Firstly, optical analysis using ray tracing is done to determine the effects of collector’s parameters, such as height of receiver, mirror width and profile, gap between adjacent rows and slope deviation. Afterwards, one-dimensional thermal model is presented which predicts surface temperatures of receiver components and heat loss. The results obtained from both optical and thermal studies are then benc...
Modelling and transient analysis of a hybrid liquid desiccant cooling system
Karshenass, Arash; Yamalı, Cemal; Baker, Derek Keıth; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2014)
Desiccant Cooling Systems (DCS) are considered as an alternative method for conventional vapor compression cooling systems (VCCS) or at least a complimentary component to them. In conventional VCCS inlet air is cooled down to blow its dew point for dehumidification and then is reheated again to obtain air flow with desired temperature and humidity, and consequently inefficient consumption of energy. In DCS, dehumidification of air is done by utilizing of desiccant material to get desirable humidity and then...
