Sizing soot and micronic carbonaceous particle in spray flames based on time resolved LII
Allouis, Christophe Gerard; Beretta, F; D'Alessio, A (2003-04-01)
A strategy for a comprehensive discrimination between soot and larger carbonaceous particles through numerical approach and particle sizing based on time resolved laser-induced incandescence (TIRE-LII) was investigated in this paper. TIRE-LII technique which is already a powerful tool for soot particle sizing in gaseous flames, was applied to more practical system as spray turbulent flames. Temporal decay of theoretical LII signals were computed for different classes of particles: soot, cenosphere and full ...
Silurian Graptolite, Conodont and Cryptospore Biostratigraphy of the Guluc Section in Eregli, Zonguldak Terrane, NW Anatolia, Turkey
Sachanski, Valeri; Göncüoğlu, Mehmet Cemal; Lakova, Iskra; Boncheva, Iliana; Demiray, Gulnur Saydam (2012-01-01)
The studied Guluc section of the Silurian Findikli Formation is situated on the western bank of Guluc Creek in Eregli, NW Anatolia, Turkey, in the eastern part of the Zonguldak Terrane. The Guluc section consists of 3 sedimentary packages: greenish grey limy siltstones, 5-7 m thick (1), overlain by an irregular alternation of black shales and clayey limestones, about 15 m thick (2), and a 6-7 m thick succession of mainly siltstones and sandy limestones (3). A combined biostratigraphy based upon graptolites,...
Collagen scaffolds with in situ-grown calcium phosphate for osteogenic differentiation of Wharton's jelly and menstrual blood stem cells
Karadas, Ozge; Yucel, Deniz; Kenar, Halime; Kose, Gamze Torun; Hasırcı, Vasıf Nejat (2014-07-01)
The aim of this research was to investigate the osteogenic differentiation potential of non-invasively obtained human stem cells on collagen nanocomposite scaffolds with in situ-grown calcium phosphate crystals. The foams had 70% porosity and pore sizes varying in the range 50-200 mu m. The elastic modulus and compressive strength of the calcium phosphate containing collagen scaffolds were determined to be 234.5 kPa and 127.1 kPa, respectively, prior to in vitro studies. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) obtain...
Heterotrophic growth and oil production from Micractinium sp. ME05 using molasses
Engin, Iskin Kose; Çekmecelioğlu, Deniz; Yücel, Ayşe Meral; Öktem, Hüseyin Avni (2018-12-01)
In this study the thermo-resistant green alga Micractinium sp. ME05 was cultivated in media containing molasses as a carbon source. Shake flask experiments and 2-L bioreactor experiments were conducted at different inoculum ratios, aeration rates, and agitation speeds. The experimental condition which resulted in the highest biomass concentration (3.73 +/- 0.45 g L-1) with 10% inoculum in 500-mL flasks was scaled up to 2-L flasks at two aeration rates (0.25 and 0.5 L min(-1)). An increase in biomass concent...
Passivation of type II InAs/GaSb superlattice photodetectors with atomic layer deposited Al2O3
Salihoglu, Omer; Muti, Abdullah; Kutluer, Kutlu; Tansel, Tunay; Turan, Raşit; KOCABAŞ, COŞKUN; AYDINLI, ATİLLA (2012-04-27)
We have achieved significant improvement in the electrical performance of the InAs/GaSb midwave infrared photodetector (MWIR) by using atomic layer deposited (ALD) aluminium oxide (Al2O3) as a passivation layer. Plasma free and low operation temperature with uniform coating of ALD technique leads to a conformal and defect free coverage on the side walls. This conformal coverage of rough surfaces also satisfies dangling bonds more efficiently while eliminating metal oxides in a self cleaning process of the A...
