A Novel Time-of-Flight Range and Bearing Sensor System for Micro Air Vehicle Swarms
Bilaloğlu, Cem; Şahin, Mehmet; Arvin, Farshad; Şahin, Erol; Turgut, Ali Emre (2022-09-10)
In this paper, we propose a novel range and bearing sensing (RnB) system for micro-air vehicle (MAV) swarms. The RnB system uses 12 infrared (IR) time-of-flight (ToF) sensors and measures the range and bearing of obstacles and other MAVs. The system incorporated hardware and software filtering to remove ambient noise and interference between different sensors to distinguish between obstacles and kin MAVs. The overall system is 50 mm wide and weighs 12.5 gram. We have installed the system on 5 indoor quadrot...
A Novel System for Measuring Solids Dispersion In Circulating Fluidized Beds
Külah, Görkem; Bi, H T; Lim, C J; Grace, J R (null; 2008-05-08)
A novel, simple and accurate experimental measurement system with fast response was developed to measure transient local solid tracer concentration distributions to obtain information on solids mixing and dispersion in risers of circulating fluidized beds operating at a wide range of operating conditions. Phosphorescent-coated FCC particles, used as the tracer, were activated by high intensity UV light and injected at the return leg of high-density circulating fluidized bed (HDCFB) unit. The tracer concentr...
A novel low noise active circuit replacement criteria for parallel fed large scale active antenna arrays
Demir, S; Toker, Canan; Bizal, A (1997-09-12)
In this work noise analysis of parallel feed structures for active antenna arrays are presented. Signal and noise behaviour of the feed structures are signified by the newly introduced concepts of ''coherent'' and ''incoherent'' impedance match of power combining structures. It is also shown that a feed structure can be re-designed for low noise operation without affecting its radiation characteristics. Optimum design of parallel feed structures for low noise operation is explained. Also an optimum use of a...
A 6DOF simulation tool for autonomous underwater vehicles with a novel method for added mass-inertia calculation
Taş, Oğuzhan; Baran, Özgür Uğraş; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2018)
Autonomous Underwater Vehicles, AUVs becomes popular with the development of related technologies. An high quality six degrees of motion simulation (6DOF) is a necessary tool for trajectory predictions at the design phase and also for autopilot development. 6DOF simulation software for an AUV requires a detailed database of static and dynamic hydrodynamic coefficients of the vehicle in different operational conditions, similar to an aircraft simulation. For an underwater vehicle simulation, additionally the...
A Novel Neural Network Method for Direction of Arrival Estimation with Uniform Cylindrical 12-Element Microstrip Patch Array
Caylar, Selcuk; Dural, Guelbin; Leblebicioğlu, Mehmet Kemal (2008-01-01)
In this study a new neural network algorithm is proposed for real time multiple source tracking problem with cylindrical patch antenna array based on a previous v reported Modified Neural Multiple Source Tracking Algorithm(MN-MUST). The proposed algorithm, namely Cylindrical Microstrip Patch Array Modified Neural Multiple Source Tracking Algorithm (CMN-MUST) implements W-MUST algorithm on a cylindrical microsttip patch array structure. CMN-MUST algorithm uses the advantage of directive pattern of microstrip...
