Water soluble nickel(0) and cobalt(0) nanoclusters stabilized by poly(4-styrenesulfonic acid-co-maleic acid): Highly active, durable and cost effective catalysts in hydrogen generation from the hydrolysis of ammonia borane
Metin, Onder; Özkar, Saim (2011-01-01)
This paper reports the in-situ generation and catalytic activity of nickel(0) and cobalt(0) nanoclusters stabilized by poly(4-styrene sulfonic acid-co-maleic acid), PSSA-co-MA, in the hydrolysis of ammonia borane (AB). PSSA-co-MA stabilized nickel(0) (PSMA-Ni) and cobalt(0) nanoclusters (PSMA-Co) having average particle size of 2.1 +/- 0.6 and 5.3 +/- 1.6 nm, respectively, were generated by in-situ reduction of nickel(II) chloride or cobalt(II) chloride in an aquoues solution of NaBH(4)/H(3)NBH(3) in the pr...

High efficiency combined - cycle gas polygenerator for ecological local generation (HEGEL)
Pınarcıoğlu, Mehmet Melih(2009-4-30)
Objective is to develop, demonstrate and assess an innovative, high efficiency concept of micro-cogeneration system applied to a real demand site under real operating conditions. The application concept is based on a combined cycle architecture (Combi system) constituted by two integrated cogenerators powered by different prime movers: an innovative reciprocating engine cogenerator and a Rankine engine system (bottoming cycle) operated on the exhaust gases of the reciprocating engine. The location will b...
Alkali-silica rectivity and activation of ground perlite-containing cementitious mixtures
Ünsal Sağlık, Aslı; Erdoğan, Sinan Turhan; Department of Civil Engineering (2009)
Perlite is a volcanic mineral. The latest investigations on ground perlite showed that it is suitable for pozzolanic usage. Thus, it is of vital importance especially for countries rich in perlite such as Turkey. The aim of this study is to investigate the advantages and problems associated with using perlite in concrete and to identify accurate methods and amounts of use for producing durable cementitious mixtures. Within the scope of this study, the alkali-silica reactivity of perlite containing cementiti...
Automatic video text localization and recognition
Saracoglu, Ahmet; Alatan, Abdullah Aydın (2006-01-01)
For the indexing and management of large scale video databases an important tool would be the text in the digital media. In this work, the localization performances of the overlay texts using different feature extraction methods with different classifiers are analyzed. Besides that in order to improve the text recognition rate by using multiple hipothesis obtained from multilevel segmentation and using statistical language model are investigated.
