Öğr. Gör. Önder Şenyapılı

Önder Şenyapılı was born in İzmir Ödemiş in 1940. After graduating from Izmir Private Turkish College and METU Department of Architecture, he received postgraduate education at the University of Pennsylvania in the USA. After working in public institutions for a while, he worked as a professional journalist in various newspapers including Dünya, Güneş, Milliyet and Günaydın. Mr. Şenyapılı worked full-time at METU Industrial Products Design Department between 1992-2005; He continued to teach part-time from 2005 to 2020. His elective courses, which include audio-visual richness and the relationship between design and culture, art and cinema, attracted the attention of students from many departments of our university. Önder Şenyapılı, who never lost his writing discipline during his retirement, had knowledge in a wide variety of fields, inspired, guided and productive designers with his published books. He was a researcher and writer. Over the past 40 years, from his award-winning review book titled "The Effects of TV on Turkish Society" published in 1977 to his book "200 Faces of Our Cinema from the Lens of İbrahim Demirel" published in 2017, Şenyapılı has published articles on "Cinema and Design," "Design and Media" and "20th Century". He published over forty books, including "Automobile Design and Designers in the 21st Century", and many articles, columns and TV series in various newspapers and magazines.
