Mustafa Doruk was born in 1932. After completing his doctoral studies at Technische Hochschule Darmstadt, he joined METU Mechanical Engineering Department in 1963. Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Under the instructions of Mustafa Parlar, he started working on establishing the Department of Metallurgical Engineering in 1963, and in 1966, he became the founding head of the METU Department of Metallurgical Engineering. He served as METU Vice Rector between 1974-1977 and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering between 1979-1985. He founded the Corrosion Association in 1987. He made significant contributions to the industry and academic community with his books and studies in the field of corrosion. He played an important role in the development of the Department of Metallurgical Engineering with his managerial and academic qualifications.
