Gaming and Virtual Environment

2009
The objective of the course is to introduce fundamental gaming concepts and technologies together with giving knowledge of virtual environments, display technologies and interaction techniques. Understanding why people play games, how they fell immersed, how do players interact with computers, which cognitive processes happen, what are the social impacts of games and other technologies are some of the issues that researchers deal with. Another objective is to establish an environment in which the current research issues of gaming and virtual environments are discussed and studied to contribute to the field.

Virtual reality in requirement analysis for CIM system development suitable for SMEs
Erenay, O; Hashemipour, M; Kayaligil, S (2002-10-15)
This paper presents a methodology, based on Virtual Reality (VR), for representing a manufacturing system in order to help with the requirement analysis (RA) in CIM system development, suitable for SMEs. The methodology can reduce the costs and the time involved at this stage by producing precise and accurate plans, specification requirements, and a design for CIM information systems. These are essentials for small and medium scale manufacturing enterprises. Virtual Reality is computer-based and has better ...
Developing a Scenario-Based Video Game Generation Framework for Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality Environments
Sürer, Elif (2019-03-01)
The 15th Summer Workshop on Multimodal Interfaces - eNTERFACE 2019 - Summary of the Project Description: Video games are widely used software which mainly aim to entertain their users with interaction mechanisms, scenarios and game objects [1]. Serious games [2] are video games which have other purposes rather than only environment —i.e. education, training, rehabilitation and emergency planning [3]. In serious games, developed environments act as testbeds and give the opportunity to test different possibil...
SystemC implementation of a risc-based microcontroller architecture
Zengin, Salih; Aşkar, Murat; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2007)
Increasing the complexity of modern electronic systems leads to Electronic System Level (ESL) modeling concept, which supports hardware and software co-design and co-verification environment in a single framework. SystemC language, which is an IEEE approved electronic design standard for system design and verification processes, provides such an environment by supporting a wide range of abstraction levels from system-level to register-transfer level (RTL). In this thesis, two different models of a processor...
Moving Object Detction in 2D and 3D Scenes
Sırtkaya, Salim; Alatan, Abdullah Aydın; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2004)
This thesis describes the theoretical bases, development and testing of an integrated moving object detection framework in 2D and 3D scenes. The detection problem is analyzed in stationary and non-stationary camera sequences and different algorithms are developed for each case. Two methods are proposed in stationary camera sequences: background extraction followed by differencing and thresholding, and motion detection using optical flow field calculated by أKanade-Lucas Feature Trackerؤ. For non-stationary ...
Guidelines and principles for efficient interaction on large touchscreens with collaborative usage
Pekin, Tacettin Sercan; İşler, Veysi; Günel Kılıç, Banu; Department of Information Systems (2017)
Understanding collaborative usage of large-size screen systems is important for advancing the general study of human-computer interaction (HCI) as well as for guiding the designers while creating efficient interactive large-size systems. This thesis aims to provide guidance for the designers of collaborative large-size screen systems. It therefore gives background information about such systems, defines similarities and differences in existing systems, compares existing design guidelines and principles, tes...
