Alasehir geothermal area located in Gediz graben is the current high enthalpy geothermal target in Turkey. The geothermal system mainly produces from fractured Paleozoic Menderes metamorphics. In order to characterize the fractured reservoir formations, marble and schist outcrop fracture networks were identified and traced using image analysis software. Primary and secondary fracture histograms were developed and box counting method was used to calculate fractal dimension. It was observed that for both formations fractal dimensions changed between 1.3 and 1.5 similar to those observed for Kizildere and Germencik geothermal fields. Permeability and porosity estimates were obtained using cubic law and a fractal model. It has been observed that permeability and porosity estimates were in accord with those obtained with well test analysis.

Practical Experiences About Reservoir Monitoring in Alasehir Geothermal Field
Aydın, Hakkı; Akın, Serhat; Tezel, Seray (2018-02-14)
Alaşehir geothermal area that is located in southern part of the Alaşehir Graben is one the important geothermal areas in Turkey. Currently, more than 6 operators are exploiting this field on a strictly competitive, and largely confidential, basis without significant exchange of resource information among them. This paper discusses monitoring of the response of part of Alaşehir geothermal system to large scale exploitation. In this regard, temperature and pressure of the reservoir, steam flowrate, brine flo...
Estimation of upcoming problems in Alaşehir geothermal field using a numerical reservoir model
Aydin, Hakki; Akın, Serhat (2021-04-01)
Alaehir geothermal area located in Alaehir Graben, West Anatolia, is the latest target for geothermal field development in Turkey. Seven different operators are developing the power capacity in this geothermal field on a strictly competitive and largely confidential basis without the significant exchange of resource information among them. Currently, eleven binary and combined flash-binary geothermal power plants with widely changing power generation efficiency between plants produce from the same reservoir...

Alaşehir geothermal area located in Alaşehir Graben, West Anatolia – Turkey is the current target for geothermal field development. Currently, more than 6 operators are developing the power capacity in this field on a strictly competitive, and largely confidential, basis without significant exchange of resource information among them. Although there are three binary and a combined flash-binary power plants with widely changing power generation efficiency between plants, additional new plant capacity will be...

Numerical simulation of germencik geothermal field
Hamendi, Ahmed; Parlaktuna, Mahmut; Department of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering (2009)
The Germencik Omerbeyli geothermal field is considered to be one of the most important geothermal fields in Turkey. A numerical modeling study was carried out to simulate the response of the field to different production/injection scenarios. The reservoir performance evaluation was based on the numerical simulation of the reservoir behavior using the simulation code TOUGH2. The numerical simulation model includes a total area of 85.8 km2 and extends from the surface at +330 m msl (mean sea level) to a depth...
