A systematic approach to the integration of overlapping partitions in service-oriented data grids
Sunercan, H. Kevser; Alpdemir, M. Nedim; Çiçekli, Fehime Nihan (Elsevier BV, 2011-06-01)
This paper aims to provide a service-oriented data integration solution over data Grids for cases where distributed data sources are partitioned with overlapping sections of various proportions. This is an interesting variation which combines both replicated and partitioned data within the same data management framework. Thus, the data management infrastructure has to deal with specific challenges regarding the identification, access and aggregation of partitioned data with varying proportions of overlappin...
On the Efficiency of Selective Search
Hafizoglu, Fatih; Kucukoglu, Emre Can; Altıngövde, İsmail Sengör (2017-04-13)
Our work shows that the query latency for selective search over a topically partitioned collection can be reduced by up to 55%. We achieve this by physically storing the documents in each topical cluster across all shards and building a cluster-skipping index at each shard. Our approach also achieves uniform load balance among the shards.
On energy imports and short-term prospects of the Turkish economy: A CGE analysis
Ercan, Hakan; Voyvoda, Ebru (Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi (Ankara, Turkey), 2005-12)
This paper develops a multi-sectoral computable general equilibrium (CGE) model of the Turkish economy, calibrated to 2003 base-year data to scan 2003-2008. The model treats the energy sector independently as in Celasun (1986), who presented an influential, multi-sector computable general equilibrium (CGE) model of the Turkish economy. The data set used in this paper, captures the energy-sector items that are the most relevant in the energy-import bill of the Turkish economy. Utilizing the data set and the ...
A Study of the Classification of Low-Dimensional Data with Supervised Manifold Learning
Vural, Elif (2018-01-01)
Supervised manifold learning methods learn data representations by preserving the geometric structure of data while enhancing the separation between data samples from different classes. In this work, we propose a theoretical study of supervised manifold learning for classification. We consider nonlinear dimensionality reduction algorithms that yield linearly separable embeddings of training data and present generalization bounds for this type of algorithms. A necessary condition for satisfactory generalizat...
The Impact of Torso Signal Processing on Noninvasive Electrocardiographic Imaging Reconstructions
Bear, Laura R.; Serinağaoğlu Doğrusöz, Yeşim; Good, Wilson; Svehlikova, Jana; Coll-Font, Jaume; van Dam, Eelco; MacLeod, Rob (2021-02-01)
Goal: To evaluate state-of-the-art signal processing methods for epicardial potential-based noninvasive electrocardiographic imaging reconstructions of single-site pacing data. Methods: Experimental data were obtained from two torso-tank setups in which Langendorff-perfused hearts (n = 4) were suspended and potentials recorded simultaneously from torso and epicardial surfaces. 49 different signal processing methods were applied to torso potentials, grouped as i) high-frequency noise removal (HFR) methods ii...
