The symmetries of the bosonic membrane of Duff-Inami-Pope-Sezgin-Stelle (DIPSS) are considered. A recursion operator is given for these symmetries. (C) 1999 Published by Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Relativistic and nonrelativistic bound states of the isotonic oscillator by Nikiforov-Uvarov method
IKHDAİR, SAMEER; Sever, Ramazan (2011-12-01)
A nonpolynomial one-dimensional quantum potential in the form of an isotonic oscillator (harmonic oscillator with a centripetal barrier) is studied. We provide the nonrelativistic bound state energy spectrum E(n) and the wave functions psi(n)(chi) in terms of the associated Laguerre polynomials in the framework of the Nikiforov-Uvarov method. Under the spin and pseudospin symmetric limits, the analytic eigenvalues and the corresponding two-component upper-and lower-spinors of the Dirac particle are obtained...
Radiative damping of whistlers in a dense magnetoactive plasma waveguide
Yilmaz, A; Oke, G; Rukhadze, A; Bilikmen, S (IOP Publishing, 1996-06-01)
The absorption of whistler waves in a magnetized cylindrical plasma due to coupling with oblique Langmuir waves is investigated. Two types of mechanisms exist for whistler absorption. The first one is related to the excitation of Langmuir waves in the volume of the dense plasma and their subsequent absorption due to the electron collisions. The second one is the emission of Langmuir waves outside of the cylindrical plasma when it is surrounded by the rare plasma. The relation between these whistler absorpti...
Investigation of sludge viscosity and its effects on the performance of a vacuum rotation membrane bioreactor
KOMESLİ, Okan Tarık; Gökçay, Celal Ferdi (Informa UK Limited, 2014-03-04)
Sludge characteristics of a full-scale vacuum rotation membrane (VRM) bioreactor having plate-type membranes with 0.038 m nominal pore size and 540 m(2) surface area were investigated. The VRM plant is composed of an aeration tank and a filtration chamber. The sludge floc size distribution, as determined microscopically, was mainly between 0 and 100 m in the filter chamber with very little difference in size distribution between summer (20-25 degrees C) and winter (10-15 degrees C) seasons. Small floc size ...
Plasma-Induced, Solid-State Polymerization of N-Isopropylacrylamide
Unver, Alper; Akovali, Guneri (Wiley, 2010-03-15)
The radio-frequency plasma-initiated polymerization of N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM) in the solid state was performed. The isolated linear polymer was characterized by C-13-NMR, H-1-NMR, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and the effects of selected operational plasma parameters (discharge power and time) on the conversion rates were studied. Reversible transitions at the volume-phase-transition temperatures of the swelled poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) hydrogels were investigated by differential sca...
Dispersion of coupled mode-gap cavities
LİAN, Jin; SOKOLOV, Sergei; Yüce, Emre; COMBRİÉ, Sylvain; De Rossi, Alfredo; Mosk, Allard P. (2015-10-01)
The dispersion of a coupled resonator optical waveguide made of photonic crystal mode-gap cavities is pronouncedly asymmetric. This asymmetry cannot be explained by the standard tight binding model. We show that the fundamental cause of the asymmetric dispersion is the inherent dispersive cavity mode profile; i.e., the mode wave function depends on the driving frequency, not the eigenfrequency. This occurs because the photonic crystal cavity resonances do not form a complete set. We formulate a dispersive m...
