Development of test structures and methods for characterization of MEMS materials
Yıldırım, Ender; Arıkan, Mehmet Ali Sahir; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2005)
This study concerns with the testing methods for mechanical characterization at micron scale. The need for the study arises from the fact that the mechanical properties of materials at micron scale differ compared to their bulk counterparts, depending on the microfabrication method involved. Various test structures are designed according to the criteria specified in this thesis, and tested for this purpose in micron scale. Static and fatigue properties of the materials are aimed to be extracted through the ...
Development of novel analysis and reconstruction techniques for coherent optical imaging systems
Işıl, Çağatay; Öktem, Sevinç Figen; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2019)
We develop novel analysis and reconstruction techniques for coherent optical imaging systems. Firstly, we present a phase-space approach to analyze coherent imaging systems with multiple diffracting apertures. The degrees of freedom of a coherent imaging system can be computed from its phase-space window, which takes into account diffraction effects from all apertures. We show how the phase-space window is linked to important imaging parameters of the system such as diffraction-limited resolution. A single-...
Development of reconstruction algorithms for magnetic resonance-electrical impedance tomography and experimental realization
Birgül, Özlem; Eyüboğlu, Behçet Murat; İder, Y. Ziya; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2002)
The electrical properties of biological tissues differ among tissues and vary with physiological and pathological state of a solution of bioelectrical field problems. The aim of this study is to reconstruct conductivity images with higher resolution and better accuracy than existing conductivity imaging tech niques. In order to achieve our goal, we proposed a technique named as Mag netic Resonance-Electrical Impedance Tomography (MR-EIT). MR-EIT com bines peripheral voltage measurements of classical Electri...
Development of sensitive analytical methods for thallıum determination by atomic absorption spectrometry
Arı, Betül; Ataman, Osman Yavuz; Department of Chemistry (2009)
The use of slotted quartz tube (SQT) as an atom trap in atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS) provides a more stable chemical environment for atomization; the technique is simple and easily applicable in any laboratory. This thesis study involves application of SQT together with some other approaches to thallium determination by AAS. The first stages involve the efforts to improve nebulization efficiency of conventional flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) with and without the use of SQT. This is achi...
