Autochthonous Upper Permian (Midian) carbonates in the western Sakarya composite terrane, Geyve area, Turkey: Preliminary data
Turhan, N; Okuyucu, C; Göncüoğlu, Mehmet Cemal (2004-05-01)
Permian limestones occur widely within the clastic units of the "Karakaya Complex" and are interpreted as allochthonous bodies or olistoliths. In the Kadirler area to the south of Geyve, however, Upper Permian (Midian) quartz sandstones and carbonates with a rich foraminifer fauna disconformably overlie a crystalline basement complex. This basement complex comprises metaclastic rocks, recrystallised limestones, metacherts, and metadiabases, and is intruded by granodiorites. The overlying basal conglomerates...
Tectono-metamorphic evolution of the northern Menderes Massif : Evidence from the horst between Gördes and Demirci Basins (west Anatolia, Turkey)
Buğdaycıoğlu, Çağrı; Bozkurt, Erdin; Department of Geological Engineering (2004)
The Menderes Massif forms a large metamorphic culmination in western Turkey ا an extensional province where continental lithosphere has been stretching following Palaeogene crustal thickening. Northern sector of the Massif on the horst between Gördes and Demirci Basins was chosen for structural analysis aimed to study the tectono-metamorphic evolution of the northern Menderes Massif. Within the study area, four groups of rocks are recognized: (1) the metamorphic rocks ا orthogneisses and metasediments; (2) ...

Tectono-stratigraphy of the Cankiri Basin: Late Cretaceous to early Miocene evolution of the Neotethyan Suture Zone in Turkey
Kaymakcı, Nuretdin; White, Stanley H.; van Dijk, Paul M. (2009-01-01)
The Cankiri Basin straddles the Izmir-Ankara-Erzincan Suture Zone which demarcates the former position of the northern branch of the Neotethys. It includes more than 3 km of pre-Middle Miocene in-fill related to late Cretaceous to pre-Middle Miocene evolution of the region. The basin has developed on the upper Cretaceous subduction complex and arc related basins of the Neotethys Ocean. The basin fill includes an upper Cretaceous forearc sequence overlain by Paleocene with a local unconformity. The upper Cre...
