Effect of precipitation temperature and organic additives on size and morphology of ZnO nanoparticles
Yildirim, Ozlem Altintas; Durucan, Caner (2012-06-01)
Low temperature (25 degrees C-80 degrees C) synthesis of zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles (<20 nm) at short synthesis periods (similar to 30 min) was achieved by precipitation. The precipitation system was formed using zinc acetate dihydrate as zinc source, ethylene glycol (EG) as solvent and polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) as chelating agent. The size of spherical ZnO nanoparticles was manipulated by the choice of precipitation temperature (13.0 +/- 1.9 nm at 25 degrees C and 9.0 +/- 1.3 nm at 80 degrees C), whi...
Effect of Sm on thermal and mechanical properties of Cu-Zr-Al bulk metallic glasses
Sikan, Fatih; Atabay, S. E.; Motallebzadeh, A.; Özerinç, Sezer; Kalay, I.; Kalay, Yunus Eren (Elsevier BV, 2019-01-16)
The effect of rare-earth (Sm) microalloying on the thermal stability and phase selection along with the effect of nanocrystallization on the mechanical properties of amorphous melt-spun ribbons of Zr50Cu40Al10, Zr49Cu39.2Al9.8Sm2 and Zr48Cu38.4Al9.6Sm4 alloys were investigated using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Vickers and nanoindentation hardness tests and micropillar compression analysis. XRD and TEM analyses showed that all samp...
Effect of ZnO type and concentration on the mophology, thermal, and mechanical properties of poly(ether ester)/ZnO composites
ÇELEBİ, HANDE; Bayram, Göknur; DOĞAN, AYDIN (Wiley, 2013-09-15)
Poly(ether ester) (PEE) copolymers were synthesized in a two-stage process involving transesterification and polycondensation. The synthesized copolymer and the zinc oxide (ZnO) were used in composite preparation by melt compounding. The influence of ZnO type and concentration on the morphology, thermal and mechanical properties of the composites were studied. DSC and XRD analyses indicated that crystallinity of composites was slightly reduced with ZnO content. Homogeneous dispersion of fillers in the polym...
